Yes, August 2007 was meant to be flying ORD-MAN didnt happen as connecting flight was late AND flight back to Manchester left ahead of Sched... in the end it was 2 days of flying SAN-LAX-ORD-ZRH-MAN COULD HAVE BEEN SAN-LAX-ORD-CDG-OSLO-LHR-MAN!!!

Slots to be taken by Virgin Atalntic,British Airways and other airlines in IAG. Aircraft sold. Domestic A/C mostly sold to BA A330's not sure, i know ones off to America, whether it be for a new life or to be parked up and die...

I'm going on this plane on one of its last flights, flying for BA out to Larnaca next week, pretty lucky I'm going as they only recently rescheduled it for my flight. :)

Anyone knows what happened to it? It was the first commercial aircraft I worked on when I started my apprenticeship in June 2012 (i.e. 2.5 months before this vid).

Amazing take off! Probably the last video footage onboard MIDX before the takeover and inevitable repaint. Sad to see it all come to an end. Great piece of history :)

Enjoyed that! Flew British Midland once in May 1990 - Dublin Heathrow both ways. The aircraft on both flights was a DC9.

Good news, I doubt Virgin would have had the resources (let alone the money) to restructure BMI and turn it into a profitable venture. The UK as a whole really needed BA to get those slots so they can expand to growing markets in India, China and South America. I'm not sure Virgin even wanted BMI, they just wanted to stir things up, in 2009 Branson said he wanted to turn Gatwick into the airline's primary hub (the acquisition of BMI would contradict this).

I remember the BMA Viscounts ,Fokker f27,DC-9 all much missed at LHR but to think by the end of 2012 Midland will be gone forever , well I can tell you a large part of Heathrow will die with it , bmi's passing is right up there with Concorde!!
