I don't see a problem with what this school is doing. Yes, sex education is
definitely important, but why would they hand out free condoms if they're
catholic? That's completely contradictory to what they teach. As for the
sex education part, while I believe it's important, they're also a
university. In the catholic education system, I was taught sex ed in grade
8, and I think by university people know about safe sex. The school
shouldn't have to hold your hand to encourage use of condoms
Contraception is against Catholic belief, therefore it would be against
their religious guidelines by which the school would be run. However, being
Catholic isn't a requirement for going to a Catholic school, and
non-Catholic or Christian students should be able to behave according to
their own morality. The school doesn't have to support the supply of
contraceptives that are contrary to their religious beliefs. (Of course,
here is the debate about religious organizations covering BC.)
I meant it like this: my university has a program that gives out free
condoms, and it does receive state funding. Condoms are generally a man's
end of the bargain and women have to cover their birth control pills or
IUDs. I think it's a bit ridiculous that guys get our stuff for free, but
people jump up in arms when women want birth control paid for. They should
be equally compensated for, or neither should be compensated for. It just
doesn't seem just to lean it in favor of one side.
You've got a lot of guts if you only use a condom. I understand condoms are
birth control, no need to harp on that continuously, but there's the chance
of it tearing and so forth. The pill doesn't tear. When people say birth
control, condoms only count as a technicality, and it's primary purpose in
most people's minds (mine at least, so maybe I'm wrong when I say most
people) is more for protection so neither party spreads anything.
I go to a university where the health center hands out free condoms but I
doubt many people use it. They will also hand them out randomly in the
court yard. I did get upset when I was handed one that had a note that said
"prayer does not work, use a condom". I agree that it helps keep people
safe but at the same time I hate how everyone assumes you are sexually
active. I'm in college to get a degree, not for sex.
First, they can make their own rules for their own university. Second, go
flipping buy your condoms. Third, why is this such a big deal. They don't
want hand out free condoms, SO WHAT. That's their choice and you can go buy
your own. College students can make their own choices and if they decide to
have sex (personally I say do it in marriage) they can choose to be safe on
their own.
Condoms after marriage is also against the catholic faith because its not
accepting of children. Only natural family planing is supported. Pills are
ok only thelp cramps, abotion can only be done if the egg is stuck in the
tube and the piece must be cut out. They say thats because the intent is to
remove the egg not kill it. Its realy fucking screwy . Haha im so punny
I think that he was saying it from the perspective of the school though. He
didn't specify it, but, especially considering he was the primary host for
their coverage on "Adult-con" I don't think he meant to say he thought
those who are sexually active were "bad kids." He was just saying from the
perspective of the other side of the condom.
if you did regret it you had guilt... And of course they do, atonement is a
big part of catholisism and that comes trough guilt... but yeah, the main
point is that the church is very restrictive about how your sexilfe should
be. And except for one case (marriage) thinks sex is sinful, which is
complete nonsense...
im using this topic of my paper! thanks source fed!! quoted trisha :)
Trisha Hurshburger, a news reporter on the YouTube channel Source Fed
states her opinion on the topic by saying “handing them free condoms is
like saying 'Hey, hey! don’t eat this cookie but here's a whole box of
cookies'”
You need to realize that "grammar" and "and" don't need a comma in between
them. (your point is still right though) I just think if your going to tell
someone off about incorrect grammar you should have it correct in your
response. If you don't... well... it makes you seem hypocritical.
Condoms are birth control so they are offering free birth control. That's
my point. Girls can make sure the guy is wearing a condom by having a
condom as well. Point is they are giving out free birth control. Why can't
people just flipping buy it themselves anyway.
Damn Hersh, you went to a private Catholic school? I'm so sorry for you.
The amount of sexual and personal repression must have done a number to
your mind. Fight through it, you can make it back to normalcy if you try
hard enough!!!
I do regret it, but that wasn't the point I was making. The church doesn't
guilt trip in the manner in which you speak. Not the Catholic church
anyway. Not the one I'm a member of. That is all.
I also liked what the guy said. If the college decides to not hand out free
stuff then that is up to do so. But kids are gonna have sex anyways and
still can offer education about it.
