"Cecil the Lion #01" Oil Painting in Stages (full version)
I painted this picture after reading the news from Africa that the well known lion, Cecil, was shot and killed by Walter Palmer, an American dentist from Minnesota, ...
The environmental impact of building a pipeline through an area that has
never had a pipeline is much greater than using existing rail lines...which
are well maintained. As you clearly show in your video...railroads can pass
right through healthy land without any impact once you step 5 feet off the
track. Healthy vegetation right up to the Right of Way. I am sure they ran
a cost benefit and traffic flow analysis when the RR decided which sections
of track to keep single vs double. Railroads are the absolute most
environmental friendly means to move freight. Would you rather have 100+
trucks vs 2 locos...maybe one truck for each train car load..if not 2. A
railroad is in business to make money and if they are acting to maximize
revenue then they are succeeding at the goal of any for profit business.
Pipelines are not the answer to transporting this crappy Bakken oil. It's
NOT just oil it's highly volatile (explosive), poisonous crap that come
from a fracked shale field. The answer is to leave this shit in the
ground. You are a fool if you think we can go on polluting our air with the
gases from burning oil and coal for our cheap energy.
