A short and brief description of the laws for guns and gun owners in Canada. I am now starting to experiment with more desktop videos by trying new lighting ect.
+Al Codie you can't anymore. You had to have been grandfathered in back when the Firearms act was first re-regulated. So people have who have them can continue to have them and collect them.
It's unfortunate that us "Free" People are restricted in the types of arms
we can own. Canada's firearm laws are much worse than Americas, but in my
opinion any, and all gun laws are a violation of our right to bear arms. I
have a few of those "restricted" NFA type weapons, I can take them anywhere
(in my home state) loaded with no issues, but would need "permission" to
travel through different states with suppressors, or SBR's. Seems to me
that the majority of gun laws make no sense, or are really illogical, and
have no real purpose, or benefit. I could keep going, but anyway thanks for
the info on Canada's gun laws.
+Majorpain762 Our Hand-picked Govts (the puppets we are allowed to choose between) only arm foreign countries they want to bring to their knees via their "freedom fighters" ... last thing they want is a populace capable of taking their country back if/when need be. We got too comfortable ...
Do you have to be in the Canadian military to own a fully automatic gun. or
do you need to go through a special gun corse ? Or is it strictly
prohibited from all civilians?
im laughing at all the americans saying that our laws suck.... i have 9
long guns in my closet that i dont need to register, i have m restricted
license and when i get my first pistol i need to register it yes but its
for a better reason, i can take my long gun anywhere (generally) and we can
own most/all calibers. we have still very free gun laws here, and guess
what! we have i believe 6 shootings (public/school type) in all of our
countries history, you guys have a new one every week. so stfu obviously we
have some awesome laws
Hello, I was just wondering if you are able to buy whatever ar you want
online or something along those line as long as you shoot it with a 5 round
magazine?
+Aaron Kellar Right, and do what with it? Ask for permission to take it to the range? What about those without the resources to have a "Legal" range to take it to? And we'll see how long this lasts too, you know damn well the UN mission is to disarm and Trudeau is their poster boy.You know exactly what I meant too, or should.
+Aaron Kellar Our laws are bullshit. You obviously have no desire to go purchase a simple new handgun. Just because you don't feel the need doesn't mean you speak for the rest of Canada.
+Archie Rodenbo our laws are perfect. i own 9 guns and none of them need to be registered

Ian Thomson was jolted awake at 6:37 a.m. by the sound of explosions; outside his secluded farmhouse in southern Ontario, three masked men were hurling fire ...

i call some BS.
no way they can ball all firearms
it would absolutely ruin the agricultural economy and the backlash would be
way too extreme.
trudeu will probably try to tighten some shenanigans but i seriously doubt
he'll even be able to get semi autos banned
+DAVE YOUNGMAN honestly you have to be retarded if you think they can ban all guns in canada. so many people rely on them for farm protection and hunting it's literally fucking impossible
+Slav Man ... The LIEberals have a massive majority and they can (and WILL) do anything they want.//www.therebel.media/canadian_firearms_expert_predicts_massive_non_compliance_with_new_law
how about redrawing the map of Canada from Thunder Bay all the way to the B.C the West will take. Build a wall at the border, put land mines, the army, and surveillance cameras there. Also write on threat wall "FUCK OFF WE ARE FULL" AND "NO LIBERALS OR FRENCH FUCKS PAST THIS BORDER"
So would you suggest to pick up a sks and some of the other 6 you
mentioned, if they might get rid of em? Or would that then be money wasted?
Thanks ..
they don't know any real facts...bow / crossbows are just as effective
(just slower more stopping power with proper power) yet zero restrictions.i
support gun ownership and hopefully never restricted bow ownership
The cross bow was made against the law late 1500's by the Jesuits in 'reformation' Europe because the cross bow could pierce the Knights armour - the gun control legislation is all about control and enslavement and bringing us all back to the depressive and oppressive 'dark' ages. - if you own a gun and a Bible there is no way the Catholic Pope can oppress and control and enslave you.
New Australian gun law coming to Canada and the USA!= Dont give them an inch!
Handguns in Canada for self defense??????please rate and post to your facebook. . call your MP's and ML A's tell them you want the the right to carry.
Dunblane massacre was in Scotland (and led to the handgun ban in the UK).
Port Arthur massacre was the Australian one. (which led to ban on all
semi-auto rifles, semi-auto and pump action shotguns and any military
looking guns). The poor Aussies got shafted even worse than us Brits imo.
We can at least still own some semi-auto rifles, and all types of semi-auto
and pump shotguns are still legal here too. No restrictions on military
looking guns here either.
I just thought I should tell you, there is an international team-up of gun
rights advocates. The IAPCAR (International Association for the Protection
of Civilian Arms Rights). Look them up and take a look at their website.
You'd be surprised how many countries are involved.
I do wish that more people can get involved to empower gun rights advocates
and get a foot hold to bring back the rights around the world.
took me 10mins to notice the medieval sword in the background .. what do
ya split fire wood with that?..lol.. ..nice.. gun control is a bunch of
bull crap ..especially when you really look at the stats on violent crime
in relation to gun ownership.. or when you look at countries and peoples
who have been disarmed .. many times it has lead to genocide .
I'm with you on what you're saying, but you need to understand something:
civil disobedience always comes with a price. The people who ARE civilly
disobedient are the ones who must pay it. I salute your dad for what he's
doing, but at the same time I point out that this is a fight that is going
to be very costly. When you are fighting a government, you need to decide
whether you are willing to pay the toll that they are going to hit you
with. Sadly, that is what our tyrant nanny state comes to.
and yet the kadir family promotes terrorism, live in a $400,000 home while
living on welfare and continue to berate canada.to stop drug dealers and
gangs, the majority of which are black, these gang members need to be
deported.but the NDP and liberals know that if this happens they will lose
their main constituants when it comes to the vote and if guns are made
legal to carry the majority of said criminal constiuants will be probably
shot and killed by their victims.thats the way i see it anyway.
@SovereignStatesman In the case at hand, the house was stolen by Canuck
gummint under the "proceeds of crime act" similar to the forfeiture crap we
have in the states. The house was in no way obtained through finances
obtained by a criminal activity which consisted of failure to fill out a
form - or posession of an illegal gun -however you choose to view it. There
was no MONEY involved. 14th Am. wouldn't help our northern friend anyway,
even if it (unlikely) would help here. Complete B-------
In other words: your dad was arrested after his provocation, as he
deliberately let his licence to expire - and then you are surprised that
they do what you want them to do? Own the gun - I'm fine with it - but
respect the regulations; one day, when a drug addict will shoot someone you
know or love, you will find out that some regulations are indeed
necessary... I am not writing about strict regulations - just some regular
psychic and health checks (yearly, for example)... BTW: wanna date? :)
@mwillblade Fortunately firearms are illegal where I live. And the chance
that I'll ever need one is slim. The risk of me being killed in traffic is
aprox 100 times greater than me being killed in a home robbery. Yet I don't
walk around in reinforced steel plating and wearing a crash helmet on the
street. So why would I want to own a gun then? Better than owning a gun is
living somewhere it is not needed. That is my method of self defense - and
statistics show that it works better than yours.
Yes the government (any) is an awful evil, and no individual can defend
oneself from the government. We can not live without government but we do
need to restrict them as much as possible. That's why constitutions were
put in place. And the rest of legal stuff id stuffed with tricks to defeat
Constitutions here and there. Even worse: US constitution is not to be
taken literally. It is what US Supreme Court says the Constitutional
statements mean, not what they mean in plain English language.
There is a couple in New England area who are being bullied by their local
police and the Dept of Justice into giving up their land under the civil
forfeiture law (not unlike your proceeds of crime legislation). This couple
owns, free and clear, a motel sitting on numerous acreage that they (local,
state and federal authorities) want and have found that a few crimes were
committed at this motel unbeknownst to the owners and are completely
innocent of any wrong doings yet the DOJ persists
HAHAHA, Bruce is a fool and will lose everything because of it. I agree
with him in principle that the gun registry he was fighting was wrong and
it has been repealed. But the thing is he became a criminal with the manner
in which he decided to fight it and will most likely never be able to own a
firearm again. Plus he lost a estimated 100.000$ private collection and his
family's house. I collect guns for pleasure, not self defence. StatsCan
says lowest rate per 100.000 in 40 years BTW.
im no fan of of liberal acts, im very conservative, but a family losing a
home over a gun rights demonstration is rediculous, and sounds largely and
unjustafiably punitive, it also doesnt sound like a proceed of crimes. did
he buy this home with money from drugs or prostitution? i dont think so, to
me proceeds of crime doesnt apply, can this be appealed to another court?
letting a license lapse should be only a fine, or at most loss of guns in a
worst case scenario, not taking ones home
@adambrgh3 If this guys protest and failure to renew his permit reached the
level of "criminal" needed to take the families home, and you agree with
that, then YOU AND YOUR COUNTRYS GOVERNMENT SUCKS!! Thank God I live in a
country where the majority of the people haven't devolved into a bunch of
SHEEP, and we actually believe in personal freedom. And once we vote out
the socialist/liberal Obama in 2012 the US will come screaming back to
Reagan era greatness......... thats right :-)
Full disclosure not in the video: Mr. Montague was a weapons dealer and
manufacturer. Given that the money he made paid for their house, and using
the profits of illegal activity (in this case failure to store a firearm
safely, possession of a weapon without a license, carrying prohibited
firearms, illegal modification of a firearm to fully automatic, and
carrying a weapon that had it's serial number removed)... yea, it's fair to
say that repossession of their house fit the crime.
How can you compare Apartheid to the long gun registry? Are you that
uneducated? Bruce was not a hero for what he did, he was simply put a fool.
He broke a number of laws regarding the running of any business plus
engaged in the illegal sale of a controlled product, guns. In Canada owning
and selling firearms is a privilege and not a right, he knowingly broke the
law and continued selling. He brought any resulting issues on himself. More
people now = more crime.
Why does your dad need a gun in the first place? And why does he think it's
a good idea to break the law? And why is he surprised that the government
punishes him for doing illegal things? To me it sound as if he got what was
coming to him. If anything is stupid it's him. If I started running around
in the streets with a gun I'd also be arrested - and rightly so. The only
ones who need a gun in civilized society are criminals. Get the guns off
the streets!
they had similar laws in California back in the 80s took peoples homes and
cars huge corruption scandals cops planting evidence so the could seize
million dollar homes , my friends brother was murdered by the LAPD in his
own home when the broke in unannounced and shot him in his own hallway.
lawsuits stopped it at last .. stand up and fight before your freedoms are
history. Daddy tell me again about what it was like back when people were
free .........
@mwillblade Oh please - I don't for one second believe that you ever went
through such an experience. You just made that up. And in any case - let me
ask you this. How often do armed home robberies occur in the US where guns
are readily available compared to Canada or most of Europe where they are
not? To me it looks like guns are costing more innocent lives than they
save - and especially so in countries where they are legal and available.
Ok, so the story goes he intentionally let his firearms business licence to
expire in November 2002 and his firearms acquisition certificate in
November 2003. Then he carried on with his gunsmith business. Any body with
half a brain would tell you that's a bad idea. While i AGREE with his cause
his manner was all wrong, he intentionally put his families well being at
risk to buck the system and hides behind his daughter to get pity.
No, owning a gun is not a right, it's a privilege that comes with
obligations. That is not an opinion but simply a fact in Canada. Gun crime
is just as likely to be committed by a first time criminal as a legal gun
owner so the pro gun argument is asinine. Also fact. Greater population has
everything to do with greater crime, more people= more crime. Your
deceiving people when the truth is murders are at a 40 year low.
@mwillblade So did Gandhi. So what of it? Referring to dictators saying
something and equating it with something being bad is stupid. Hitler also
thought that it was a really good idea for women to have lots of children.
Does that mean that maternal instinct is Nazi as well. Or how about
motorways and cars - Hitler was a great fan of those. Does that mean you
drive a horse buggy? Your argument is just plain stupid.
+Leone Montana I mean we have the ATF. They're the ones who set restrictions on barrel lengths, automatics and all that crap. You need to pay a tax stamp (more complicated for automatics) to be able to own certain weapons. But they dont have the power the RCMP seems to have.
They confiscated the guns because they were stored illegally, they were supposed to be locked and out of sight. Also they broke into the houses because... Well, why the fuck not? Everyone's gone, now's our chance to rake in millions in fines because that's what governments do
+Billy Calder I heard of a town where they went into closets and got gun and said they where in plain site, that's a bit crazy, a person should still have rights. It's getting to the point where you don't have rights and it's only going to get worse.
+Edwin Dueck Hey Ed, you might want to keep those thoughts to yourself. All anyone has to do is put your name into a Google search and your posts such as this one above comes up. Godspeed..
+Bill Meeh i do ,remember i was 13 at the time but its like yesterday to me till those day i hated pe trudeau and now waht canadian didi put his kid there whatch what he will do whanting to be remember like his shit father
What the fuck do you retarded Americans think you know about fucking Canada
you know nothing about us going to grab her you kidding me martial law are
you kidding me but you Americans believe everything assholes like this guy
puts out there
I don't no looked like ur media reporting he just posted it on utube but we have a saying here in America if u don't like the contest of freedom go from us in peace we ask not ur arms or counsel crouch down and lick the hands that feed u may ur chains sit lightly upon u. and another anybody who would give up a little liberty for a little security deserves neither liberty or security fyi
Solomon Friedman discusses the Ian Thomson acquittal
Ottawa criminal defence lawyer and firearms law expert Solomon Friedman discusses the acquittal of gun owner Ian Thomson with Brian Lilley on Byline.
interesting points,if anyone else trying to find self defense moves try
Lomonting Survival Situations Mentor (Have a quick look at google i can't
remember the place now )?
I have heard some great things about it and my mate has got great success
with it
The Firearms regulations have to be changed.I'm sick of the fascist
government charging firearms owners.due to Firearms act.I'm OK with the
licensing.not everyone is familiar with Firearms.
In my. Opinion if Canada wants to lower the crime rate why don't we
concealed carry. Guns Think about it a lot abiding citizens protecting
themselves by concealed carry handguns Canada should open up to the conceal
carry world !!!
auth. to transport? ??
geezus...thank god I don't live in fucked up Canada.
they cannot believe a fucking idiot law like this actually stops even a
single act of violence
They aren't enforced, and it's only some firearms that require an auth. To transportI own 7 firearms and can transport any and all of them in the back of my car no problem... I only have paper work for 2 of them and they're just a sheet of paper each, one from Cabelas and one from the Army Navy Surplus... This really isn't a problem and if the RCMP wants to make it a problem... Well... Come take 'em
+The Prestigious that reminds me, in Germany today people use use silencers on rifles so they don't disturb others, In Canada any silencer I'm pretty sure will get you jail time.
Guns can be produced that will not kill. Just think about that for a
minute. The police and politicians want guns that kill to maintain license
and control. Someone attacking you and so you pull out a bruise gun to
subdue them; problem, you can't hear the sound of money jingling in the
legal system. The USA police in Ferguson are being forced into using the
gun attachment to stun, but the resistance to not killing is painful and to
the max. Crime scene with no blood, even the new papers would lobby to stop
that!
+CARBIDE TV - The Machinist Channel Two words: Rodney King. He was impervious to pain and could not be subdued. This isn't a zero-sum game for the police. Either comply with police commands, or face the consequences of them using deadly force.
+CARBIDE TV - The Machinist Channel And the law forbids even these. Try getting a stun gun or pepper spray. Also It's been my experience that People who are intent on harming or killing you will overcome these and still kill you.
Canadian Firearm Storage Laws
Just going over some options for storeing firearms in Canada. Note some laws may be diffrent ie Quebec.
The first thing I have to ask is ok you get robbed and most and all of your
handgun colection is stolen and not to mention my medication which I know
they came for that becouse no one knew I had theese guns but I digress ok
to continue your guns and meds are stolen and you know they already know
where you live and I have been a taxi driver for a few yr.s and the last
one tride to kill me for $38.50 cents so Ive been robbed and I know my guns
are out there so what now do you keep a loaded gun close or do you relax
and think nothings going to happen again.paranoia and fear still fresh in
your mind, knowing they could come back anytime without warning.you think
this over and tell me would you be werry or relaxded.I bet you a million
buck,s youd be armed to the teeth. And if you say difrent your a frigging
lier!
I'm already armed to the teeth and if my guns got stolen well I have more... Not the only place I store firearms they would have to rob 2 people at the same time so I just walk over and pick it up no problems you can store firearms at other peoples house. It's legal to do that as long as you follow proper storage. Transportation if it's a restricted firearm or you ship it from your door to the other place with a company that can ship firearms and pick them up. More then 1 way to move guns with out telling the CFO and you can do it legally. They don't dick me around when I explain well hell if you don't give me what I want I will just ship it from the door to the place I want and I don't even have to lock the case or box. they don't like that not 1 bit :p
Tha ammunition being out like that is not legal it needs to be locked in
boxes or a cabinet, you would lose your guns and be charged with unsafe
storage of ammunition, I would get that in order pronto, you can not have
loose ammunition out
+Sam Sharma Show me the law that say's it's illegal it falls under the explosives act there is no legal requriment to lock ammo for transport or storage it justs say this is the max amount of ammo you can have by weight.
There is no legal requirement to lock ammo up. It's only if it's with the firearms at the same time leaving it out is 100 percent legal. Plus that whole room is locked by it self meaning I cover my rear end in more ways then 1. They were going to make a law under the expolsive act and it got kicked out of it they tried that crap but I can have ammo rolling around on the seat of my car 100 percent legal. If I leave a firearm with that ammo I just have to throw a blanket over a non restricted rifle it can't be seen so a blanket covering the rifle is 100 percent legal with lose ammo when in transist say you stopped for lunch ect. There are lots of ways around certain laws
"Front Door of the house" there is no such regulation within the FA..
No offence.. it's admirable you are trying to help.. but you really need to
learn the facts and the actual law before doing this sort of video.
I like the poke the people you vote for with a stick that seems to work best. Showing up at there door and going hello here is what I want to see and they actually went I want the same thing want to see my gun collection :p That works way better.
+Kindanyume .Kindanyume At the end of the day it all depends on what the judge says. Most of the time they look at the punishment for what you did and go holy crap that's a nasty punishment 2 years manditory up to 10 1 of them is 25 years and they go I rather not give that sentence so we find you guilty of some unrelated crime so they can use that as a punishment instead instead of you broke this or that law and get 2 years they will simply go you broke something you never did and the punishment is a fine or way less time. They do that in court all the time sometimes they charge people witht he same thing twice so they get a longer sentence even though they broke a differen't law. They did this for a person that broke into a gun store and stole firearms they charged him with break and enter twice but never charged him with break and enter to steal a firearm which he was guilty of the police stated that the judge wouldn't want to give that perosn 25 years in jail even though the guns were given to gang members who killed people and that was the whole point of the law to begin with. It's stupid crap like that the person also refused to id the people who he gave the guns to and was laughing at the police because he broke into over 160 companys and did millions of dollars worth of damage to them from stolen items to damage from the break in. That is why our system is screwed up they don't hold people that taunt the system and keep breaking the law they don't care they just keep letting them out even though they have a chance to stop it with that 1 law. I even suggested making a plea deal with the guy saying we won't charge you with the one that comes with life in jail if you tell us who you gave the guns to instead of telling the police to go F them self and laughing at them. They didn't want to do that which I went well it would of gave you leverage to get the guy to talk as he wouldn't want life in jail so he would roll over on the gang members who would roll over on other people and you nail the people that make a difference.
It's CFO policy. Policy vs law a whole another can of worms. I know people with 12.2 that went to the edge of the property and threw the guns across the street so they could be stored at another 12.2 holder while they get inspected and are going haha not in here. They got caught doing it and when asked what happens if it lands in the middle of the road they said i brought out my fishing pole to drag it out if that happened. The judge sided with the 2 war vets and ruled they did follow the law. Now another person carried a pistol outside and they ruled it was in transport. They also had a video the CFO released that explained that if you have a shed you want to take it to it has to be covered to be considered part of your dewling (it's stupid bullshit type of stuff) But that's what they made into a policy. People have been charged taking it out side the door step because the judge ruled it was being transported at that point. If you ship a firearm in a box in a locked case with a trigger lock but it can be picked up by a company that is allowed to ship firearms you have 3 in Canada that can 1 is Canada post expodited, 1 is Purlator (have to be a busniess) and the 3 is DHL they keep saying dangerous goods that's only if you ship ammo with the firearm or the firearm is loaded.
Sorry but there are errors in your information
#1 When stored in a safe the ammunition can be stored right beside the
firearm and that is perfectly legal. So long as the firearm it'self is not
loaded.
#2 There is no law stating that ammunition must be 100' away.. there is
that it must be stored in another room in certain cases however
not counting the safe above.
If it's in a safe or closet that is designed to hold firearms it can be stored with the firearm. If it's anything else they will charge you I've spoken to officers who are deal with weapons enforcment type of things. They can really screw with people at times. If they find a shotgun with a trigger lock and boxs of ammo beside it under the bed they will charge you with unsafe storage now if you lock it in a safe beside your bed your fine or if you lock it in a case your also fine. It's pure Bull shit but that's what these police officers who are responsable for weapon enforcement do and they tend to win the cases because of the way the law is poorly written.
I got robbed in Aug this past 2013 on the 22nd and while I was at the
doctors office getting exammed for an hour and a half by the time I got
home my brother told me his room got toossed and I went to my room in the
basement and all my handguns and 2 rifles where stolen this the police say
they knew about the guns but a couple hundred knew about my perscriptions
then the guns, and the safe I had I found out the safe I had my persciption
and spair key,s under my bed and the safe well I called a locksmith and the
safe I had was leagal but it only takes 3 minuts and a screw driver that
makes about as much noise.and with all this happening and knowing my guns
can and might be yoused against me so i had a shotgun next to my bed but I
let the police in,.so it,s my own falt for not lieing and telling the
truth. All I can say is I hope the judge is fair.
Im just saying, i wouldnt wanna get caught with an unlocked loaded unattended firearm with the way the anti gun people are pushing things and have no concept that pal holders are safer than most people and go through a daily background check by the rcmp computer and the reports sent to the provincial cfo's every day, when's the last time any one of those liberals did a background check or had their fingerprints done to check for past crimes etc.
+dajhrm They also threw out the manditory sentences for gun laws it went through the courts and was thrown out. It would be intresting to see what would happen now htt p://www.torontosun.com/2013/11/12/mandatory-minimum-gun-sentences-unconstitutional-ontarios-top-court-rules
because it was said they came into the house and found an unlocked loaded shotgun, its pretty clear, the judge has no discretion beyond the law regarding minimum and maximums, he must apply a penalty within those standards, there is no changing or going easy, people need to understand the laws
+dajhrm They never are but depending on what happens the judge may or may not throw the whole charge out and charge the person with something unrelated to give less time ect. How do they know the firearm was loaded illegally if someone could of loaded it because they feared for their life it would be a reasonable thing to do. The laws are screw yes but the things they do in court are more screwy.
the judge isnt there to be forgiving and asses a penalty based on the law, it sounds like you had a loaded gun illegally, its a 3 year minimum sentence
Now was ammo stored within easy access and is there a need for predator control ie black bears, mountain lions ect. The problem is when you open your mouth with the police around prepare to be screwed over. That's what they do now not every officer is that way but there are enough out there that you should say nothing and that's why people say nothing. If you said it was loaded your screwed. If you said ammo was beside it your screwed best thing is to higher a good lawyer and then see if going public will help or hurt your case. Chances are unlawful storage mandatory sentence or plead guilty and get a prohibited from owning firearms for a certain amount of time. 2-10 years is common in a case like this life is for someone who stole the firearm. Now the people if they get caught the max sentence is life but that will never happen because the court system doesn't want to give them that much time. It's a crap shout higher a lawyer quick because it's a big fight at this point.
