The amount of butthurt from veyron fanboys is amazing. It doesn't matter if
it "doesn't count" it still hit 270. Just because its not in a shiny book
doesn't mean it didn't happen. The Veyron will never get above 270 because
its incredibly heavy and has horrible high end acceleration. The veyron
runs up @ 120mph to a 5 mile straight and hits 268. The Venom goes 0-270 in
3.2 miles from a standing start. I think it's clear which car is superior.

Without splitting hairs too much, sure, top speed (at any distance) doesn't have much to do with weight. But, in the 1/4 mile, 0-60mph and other timed or distance metrics that auto makers try to compete to get the best numbers, acceleration and therefore weight matters.
false. top speed is not about light weight and efficient powertrain, its about raw power and minimal drag/efficient aero.the venom wouldn't be slower with an extra 500lbs on board, it would just take longer to reach 270mph.....if you were to add an extra 500lbs worth of downforce however it would NOT manage 270mph due to the increased aerodynamic drag.so to recap, weight helps with fuel economy and acceleration, while power and aero helps with top speed.
