It's very sad to watch this type of events happening in India. Seems to be
a forced arranged marriage set up by two families. Neither the bride nor
the groom is happy. Unfortunately this type of marriages still exists in
the upper middle class society too. It is high time that parents and
families give full freedom to their children to choose the person that they
want to spend rest of their lives with. Sooner or later a change is
inevitable.

+Trishanku Uknahshirt I have seen a lot of unhappy couples stuck in arranged marriages. most of them would not go for a divorce since that would affect family's reputation and as a result they lead a sad and depressed life. In our society happiness depends on what others think of us and not what we think of ourselves. The concept here is that love comes after marriage . It can happen in some cases but not all of them. I just feel that arranged marriage is a business agreement between two families. I don't think love plays a role in such contracts. There is a small and subtle change happening today where more youngsters are voicing their opinions. I just wish that change to get stronger much faster.

+Trishanku Uknahshirt I agree with you. We have too many outdated traditions and customs. The whole society has to undergo a transition.In India there are always statistics showing that there are low divorce rates in arranged marriages and thereby concluding that those marriages are happy and successful. If only those people conducting the survey knew the real truth .And there would be people saying that finding a life partner by your own is showing disrespect to your parents and family. We should respect our parents but marriage is a huge decision in one's life. If that choice goes wrong then everything will go down . I think somewhere we are forgetting that we are responsible for our own happiness. It's important to take control of one's life, make wise choices and enjoy life .
