You are for sure an unsung hero for woodworkers on youtube. Being a fellow
carpenter an cabinetmaker i would love to do what you do day in day out, an
your quality of work is top notch in my book
+Stephen Morrill Thank you Stephen! You made my morning with your compliments.. :-) And I'm sure you have every bit as much talent, I find most here are extremely talented but usually pretty modest. Thanks again!
I love your comment at 1:47, my Dad used to say the same - he just turned
his hearing aids off :-)
I admire your outstanding work, thanks for sharing.
+EL DIESTRO DIY The frames, doors and trim are a mix of soft maple and poplar. The cases are mostly maple (all exterior surfaces), with a couple sheets of birch also used (interior surfaces only). Thanks for watching as well as the compliment! :-)
+Howard Springsteen Thanks kindly! My shop - well, it's taken me many years to get to this shop.. I rented a 2,400 sq. ft. shop for over 25 years, and finally purchased this shop about 10 years ago. It's got 4,000 sq. ft. on the ground floor, and I'm (in progress) working on another 3,000 ft on the upper mezzanine levels. It was just an empty warehouse when I bought it - almost a decade later and you can see how little progress I've made building those upper mezzanines and finishing off sections below. But I'm getting there! :-)
+NateCowen Nate, the cases are made of a mix of both maple and birch plywood. I only use boards manufactured in either USA or Canada - no imported (Asian) stuff. It's all furniture grade, the birch is a one piece face while the maple is flitch veneers. They are a full 3/4" thick (unlike imported which is mostly 1/32" to 1/16" undersize), the face veneers are very generous in thickness so there's no "sand through" issues using belt sanders. Also, unlike the imported sheets - these are within one thousandths of an inch tolerance in thickness across the entire sheet. Important when fitting dados! And another plus - they are 48-1/2" wide by 96-1/2" long. That 1/2" oversize allows me to square up the sheets on my sliding table saw before cutting and still have over 4' x 8' to work with. I buy my material mostly from //www.fessendenhall.com located about an hour ride from my shop. They have a regular weekly route to us, Monday, Wednesday and Fridays so it works out well for inventory on a regular basis.
+Michael Flynn I appreciate your words Mike. Hoping to have Part 3 up by June 17. Schedule at the shop has gone ballistic - I'm putting in 90 hours a week...
+L ZACCARO Hoping to have Part 3 up next week (June 17). Just no time for games the last two weeks - killer hours trying to finish up 3 jobs at the same time. Thanks for watching! I appreciate it. mike
