Bananas aren't genetically modified to be identical, but they have been
genetically modified since a virus wiped out the original banana. So,
Banana's can never be organic.
Organic food tends to rot faster on the shelves, I've seen it often in my
grocery store so they end up throwing away tons of food that if it were
GMO, it could stay on the shelves longer. GMOs are proven safe. Why spend
more money on an inferior product? Science shows organic is no healthier
than GMO food. You're just wasting your money spending more on organic.
+Ravenous Fallen I do agree with your overall ideal. I believe that many people don't know about the variety of agricultural practices. Besides the "conventional norm," and organic. I personally would prefer integrated pest Managed (IPM) foods.
+Ravenous FallenNot enough people buying will do this yea.I typically purchase from supermarkets though with no problems, farmers markets are even better.
+informationwarfare I'm sure if I went to a farmers market I could find apples that are organic and fresh and crisp tasting. But in grocery stores organic apples generally are old tasting and less options. But we don't know if apples are GMO or not, as it's not required to label them GMO here in the US. So maybe they're not GMO. I don't know what is and what isn't. But the regular Fuji & Jazz apples not in the Organic section are best.
+Ravenous FallenI dunno man I don't see organic produce with spots and bruises all over it. Sometimes yea, and I don't buy that, but the majority is not.Personally I find that uniform look to be very unappealing.I've had some very delicious, crispy and good looking apples before that are organic.I'm not sure how it is where you live, but organic produce is not like that for me in Australia, and I'm always looking at the organic stuff when I'm at the shops.
+informationwarfare it is relevant because it's just the way people are. They're not buying food that has spots all over it or bruises. They want fresh looking fruit. If they can make fruit look fresh and last longer on shelves so it's not thrown out without GMOs I'm all for that.
+Ravenous FallenThat's not really the point though. People are used to this prepacked garbage food that never decays, they eat it, and then wonder why they are unwell.

Those secondary roots are normal.
The primary roots go down about four feet. These are the roots that
actually come from the seed itself. They sustain the plants life until it
is growing well. Once those are established the plant produces secondary
roots which allow it to remain stable and not fall over, absorb nutrients
to continue it's rapid growth and development.
Those roots that you all are commenting about not being "normal", were well
documented in books in the 1800's. These are not from GMO's!
