Some of the historically largest innovators on this Earth, the people who GAVE US MATHEMATICS, and the very definition of what the word civilization means, and we're going to teach them what? However, that's not going to happen, I have no faith it will, and so Israel needs to pull the lynchpin and decide the fate of the conflict.

First, the Palestinians, in general, are the extremists; if you kill those presently known as combatants, their wives, children, and non-nuclear families will become radicalized to fill the spot left empty by their loved one. While this, obviously, would not be true of everyone, a violent death, especially from some manner of battle, close to home and over religious ideology, tends to make close family crazy. So, in essence, they are all extremists, and it is their cultural norm to be such; they are so inured by what is taking place in their nation, that the only way out for many of them, especially according to their religion, is to take up arms for their faith. In the movie Navy SEALs, in 1990, Joanne Whalley has a part where she's recording, as a journalist, a piece for her television station about al Shu'adah (sp?), and she explains that many of them have little choice but to join what they consider to be the resistance. That's what we're talking about, here, as well.The other problem with your statement is that, if you put them all together, while you might have fighting between the more extreme and less extreme elements of Islam in that area, the greater likelihood is that they would all gang up together and fight against who they see as their oppressor's. Now, while I agree that the United States needs to change its foreign policy with regard to the various regions in the Middle East, if we were suddenly to decide to just come home and stay home, at this stage in the game, I'm afraid the region over there is now so radicalized, that it would be our own doom, here.So, right now, we're in something of a self-perpetual stalemate, and whatever action(s) the non-Muslim world takes with regard to the Muslim world, it's going to cause problems. Israel is the lynch-pin in all of this... it will be their actions, whether going to war, or continuing to establish peace, that will determine where the rest of the world will go, and there's little the rest of us can do to stop that. I don't know whether or not you've heard, because I don't know where you live, but the U.S. is under huge security restrictions this entire weekend because of what happened around the world last week, just because we want to celebrate our hard-won independence. Why? Why does it have to be that way?While I know that Muslims, in general, are not bad people, the same issues with self-radicalization exist in all facets of Islam, so because of the misguided ideals of extremists, and any bleed-over those ideals have in the non-extremist Muslim community, we are basically forced to walk on egg shells, or they'll do the same things here that they've done in those places around the world last week. So, if Israel basically holds the key to unlocking the world's present stalemate, then my recommendation for them would be to push the Palestinian's into the sea and reclaim all of that territory.

I guarantee you that those Palestinians who do not believe as ardently as the rest of their countrymen and women, if they were in charge would make peace with Israel. Now, I do not believe Israel is beyond reproach, and yes they have done ugly things as much as any other country, but as long as Palestine continues the bombardment, Israel has an absolute right to not only defend itself, but to go on the attack. I stand with Israel to obliterate everything Palestine, but Israel doesn't want that, or they would do it and have done with it. The amazing amount of restraint Israel has shown, thus far, when they could utterly destroy Palestine with little effort, is fantastic. As far as I'm concerned, Palestine should be plowed under, every last Palestinian killed, down to the last child, and that land returned to its rightful owner, Israel.
