Just as a point of interest . The guitar he is playing has slanted frets .
Its a Novak Multi-Scale Length fingerboard . I read about this in an old
copy of Guitar Player Magazine . The idea is the frets are spaced so the
bass strings have feel of a long scale neck such as a strat and the treble
strings give the feel of a short scale instrument such as a Gibson . The
piece said that inventor Ralph Novak built such 2 guitars for Walker in the
late 80's.
@WallyKatz: Wally, Joe's early stuff on the High Tone label is till his
best, IMO. "Cold is the Night" is a fabulous album and his others from that
time aren't far off that mark. He was young, hungry, and looking to make
his mark - and his playing reflects that. The Bosstalkers were fabulous,
too - very tight and tasty. Joe's performing has never been less than
stellar, but I miss Bruce Bromberg's steady production hand.
JWL is the real deal... I've been a big fan of his since the 1980s when his
first LPs on High Tone came out. Been fortunate enough to see him live,
too... He's on my short list of the very best modern blues performers. Love
how he can get down and dirty with slide guitar, and even do some old
acoustic blues-style numbers when the mood strikes him. Joe, please come
back to Chicago on tour!
In the 80's, Robert Cray, Joe Louis Walker and Lucky Peterson were said to
be the greatest hopefuls in blues. And Joe was the bluesiest and the least
contaminated with rock. He still is one of the few bluesmen who can play
truly blues-sounding blues.
OMG, I love the blues so much but work so hard that I seldom have time to
indulge. Tonight is rare. 777User was 1 month ago. This music should be a
must. wallykatz
@jonnyjamesblues Minor correction: the first verse starts like this: "She's
got eyes like diamonds, they shine like Klondike gold" This is one of those
classic old blues lines whose originator is unknown. Taj Mahal copped it in
his version of "Corrina, Corrina".
Sorry mark but I've performed with Joe and he told me himself that it was
called 'Rebecca' when I asked him. Just checked again in my collection and
it sounds like the same song to me.

teşekkürler,sizleri birkez daha Türkiye'de görmek dileğiyle :)
who ever filmed this did a sloppy job..bouncing around. filming the backs
of people and the ground...but catching Rachelles performance made it
worthwhile
From the Blue Soul CD. Joe Louis Walker (vocals, guitar, slide guitar, steel guitar, percussion, background vocals); David Hidalgo (accordion); Nancy Wright ...
This is arguably the greatest Blues guitarist/Vocalist alive, given Buddy
Guy's obvious deficit in the area of vocal delivery. This brother can
deliver his ax as well as his voice. I'd love meet this man. I'm a musician
and I play the Blues. This brother is one of a kind-like Albert Collins and
Freddy King and Otis Rush. This is the standard by which the craft is
measured. [email protected]
I got to play this man's guitar and meet him personally, this guy is such a
legend that everytime I see him live he pulls out some lick that takes you
back in time whether it be Hendrix or from one of his older songs. My
favorite song of JLW is I'm Tide, nuff said.
Joe you are amazing and your one of my many influences, this is one of my
favorite songs, also bluesof the month!, you deliver the blues the way it
should be.
I love you Joe Louis Walker. Remember me? I'm Eugene Huggins' sister,
Rachel. I was with Rodney Jackson. I need to get in touch with Fillmore and
Maxine. We lost our phone and their numbers were in it. Fillmore must know
Rodney is critically ill and home w/ hospice. I'm so sad that Fillmore and
Maxine don't know what happened. Can anyone help us? Please call my brother
Eugene for our new phone number at (415) 887-9488. time is of the essence.
Love and God Bless, Rachel Huggins
