Ethanol because fuel is better blended.
Just as an ice cream cone is better blended with chocolate and vanilla, fuel is better blended with ethanol from Iowa Corn!
Ethanol fuel is only better if the fuel systems are ALL designed to handle
it, and if the fuel is enough cheaper to more than offset the lower energy
content. That means compatible materials and a sealed fuel system with a
charcoal canister to keep out the moisture that causes phase separation. I
ran my lawn tractor on E85 and with the required mixture adjustment it ran
great, but I couldn't leave any fuel in it because its vented fuel tank
would let in moisture and I couldn't be sure that the fuel system
components were ethanol stable. It was too much trouble draining the
leftover fuel back into the sealed can after each use, so I switched back
to using plain old E0.
