So cute...she seemed to want to keep them in the long grass. I think I
counted 3 or maybe 4 babies and they are so small...must have just hatched.
I have a pair of Mallards that come here every Spring abd I feed them
ground corn. We are anxiously waiting for her to bring babies here. Not
sure where she is nesting but Henry, the drake is making himself
comfortable and waits here each day for Mabel to come off the nest for some
food. She nested very early in the Spring and lost them all.
Thnx 4 sharing this, Roxie. I luv how "mommy" moves slowly and paced partly
I'm sure so her babies can keep up as they forage thru the grasses! Very
nice to watch. I watched the trappers vid- I know age old and honored
living, but still sad to see the minks, otters and beavers dead in those
harsh traps. :/.
Trapper Jon, just got another raccoon on his deck. Our police dept. told
him an area to drop the buggers off, so they are still happily playing in
the woods, just not near residential areas.
there were six with her, she was on the grass first but of course, I didn't
have my camera. They were so adorable, haven't seen them since, it's been
too hot to sit outside for lunch :O
