Margaret Thatcher news report accidentally uses footage of the Queen
A Taiwanese television station was left red-faced after confusing footage of the Queen for the late Margaret Thatcher.
"Iron Lady" dead: Taiwan TV mixed up Queen with Thatcher
The passing of Margaret Thatcher has shocked the world. What's more shocking is Cti cable of Taiwan mixed up Queen Elizabeth II with the Iron lady in their ...
I like living here in Taiwan, but I'm really not surprised that they'd make
such a mix-up! Their impression of the west comes from Hollywood films,
pretty much exclusively, and knowledge of western geography/history is
slim-to-nothing. I've heard several times "Who is this Hitler guy that I've
heard about then?!" It's amazing! But I love the people here, they're nice.
The Iron Lady: Margaret Thatcher movie gets mixed reaction
The Iron Lady movie, a biopic on former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher starring Meryl Streep is set to hit theaters in the UK on Jan. 6 2011. The movie ...
@yuukisama2001 A genocidée, not a miner. The two incidents which have
brought her the most media attention during her retirement are when her son
Mark tried to overthrow the government of Equatorial Guinea (see 'Wonga
Coup') and when Pinochet was arrested in 1998. Thatcher and Pinochet were
mutual admirers, so she had him round for tea several times before he was
deported back to Chile on charges of gross human rights violation. Which
makes their friendship a little controversial.
@yuukisama2001 Generally speaking my view is that if a bunch of wingnuts
simultaneously denounce a film as being both right wing and left wing
propaganda it's probably fairly balanced ('accurate' probably doesn't apply
to a ~2 hour film much of which is apparently devoted to Maggie chatting to
the ghost of Dennis. If the script needed a conversation partner for the
retired matriarch, why not just use a genocidal Chilean, as in real life?)
@Faboba Good point. Well, it's good to know as of writing this the movie is
pretty fair. Though you can follow the documentaries of her life listening
to the people that knew her or go around and speak to everyday people to
get different points of view the same way you hear here from those that are
on both political sides. Actually what does a Chilean miner have in
relation with this?
@richard20bris The Argentine Government of the day could be reasonably
described as "bastards", but they most definitely were not Communist. Like
most Argentine governments between 1930 and 1983, the "National
Reorganization Process" (military) government was much closer to the
Fascist end of the political spectrum.
@no2foreclosures Sounds about right, the Dictators of Argentina had it
coming, that's what you get when you resort to violence to resolve a
dispute. Just because your country is 10 times bigger and 3000miles a way,
doesn't give you the excuse to take something by force with no respect to
the people who live there!
@solisvictor1991 Youtube sees any activity on a video, whether it's thumbs
down, thumbs up, a bad comment or a good one, to rank that video higher in
searches. No matter what activity happens around a video, any activity is
good for the author.
Why the dislikes. This channel is about as good if not the same or better
than the onion news.Try to judge the report on how well its made and not
the actual event that upsets you. It's a bit of an insult to the work they
do to entertain you.
I wonder how accurate the film is. Considering those that go and see it are
going to complain about it being nothing more than leftist, blah,
conservative propaganda controlled by y'know who.
