If you're having trouble backing up your phone with Kies, I would suggest using Lookout. Otherwise, an update may not be available for your device.

@sahasthechamp to be honest, i u wld have gone and said, i want this ace, does it have 2.3 or 2.2.... they'll say 2.3 just to sell it.... once they commit to that, show them urs and make them do the work... :p jk..... try again and check if ur on the latest version of kies, if that doesnt work, go to xda developer's site and read the article concerning how to upgrade manually using recovery mode, but do that on ur own risk.

@Stickycover well I should complain to Samsung then for not releasing the 2.3.4 to all of the world. According to samfirmware I could only spot one occurence of the 2.3.4 variant of their firmware for Ace. All the others on the list (a lot) were 2.3.3 and the older 2.2 Froyo versions. Seems like you won the lottery if you got 2.3.4 to me.

hey i bought this phone 1 week ago ..and it came with android 2.3.4 gingerbread update... bt in this update even though they hv increase video resolution wt i hv noticed was camera quality is low compared to 2.2 update.. am i correct?? um so disappointed abt this even though it has 5MP cam doesn't feel so while taking pictures :((

@Stickycover i upgraded my droid using kies, after that i already can't use the screen capture, evrytime i press the back key first it automatically back into the home page..i'm using the capture screen before i upgraded it into the new version,, i don't know what's going on with my phone,

HoneyComb is primarily for Tabs. And running a 1.2 GHz processor on a 1380 mAh battery, is a joke. Anyhow, anyone else noticed the lag when your phone is on stand by and you press the power/enter button. It takes time for the backlight and the screen to activate.

@lakmalsiriwardane u may feel like that bcuz of the fact that all the menu options surrounding the pic might be in bold in2.3.4.... but to truely compare the pics... export them to a comp.

I've a video about it, on how to do it on stock, but if your on a cyanogenmod or any other rom it might just have the feature in the power menu(hold the power button for 3 sec).

funny. 3 weeks ago I ran Kies firmware updater and got the Android 2.3.3 version and not the 2.3.4 version they are talking about here? so it is not official then.

In Malaysia I'm using Android 3.1 Honeycomb on my Galaxy Ace. I also changed the processor into 1.2GHz. It only cost me 30USD.

@mikhaldavid2010 this does not affect the screen capture, do try many times... sometimes timing is the key.

You can root and flash simply as you did in kit kat. There is no change in the method of rooting.
