Wow....I was expecting so much form this video. I am very disappointed. Shims for out of square installation? Hinge installation after install? Love to see you do that. Most people do it BEFORE you install the Jambs. Well, at least marked. Doing it before allows for easy routing and chisel work. Mark the door for hinges...see point above... Measure jambs and head for door. As I said. Disappointing.

No, your specified method is NOT the correct practise if you want to gain some valuable and more widely applied carpentry skills. What happens when you come to hang a door in a lining that is already in? Would you take the lining out and lay it flat for you to chop your hinges in?If you always mark out and chop the hinges while the lining is unconstructed and on a work bench, you will not be able to hang a door in an existing lining efficiently and neatly.

that's why it's a lot better to use screws than nails to fix jambs.. so you can easily adjust it. Then make use of shims

i know right, should always measure the gap first and leave a gap if possible to level up your jams yourself
