Quick tip for your vinyl don't land flat like that because it will warp
them, put them standing up just so you don't ruin your records if you
actually want to listen to them in the future :))
Why would anyone dislike this comment? It's the truth and its been proven if you even have finals then keep them up right and they will last for years and years, it's freaking common sense obviously people know nothing about reference nor you do you probably have any unless you're a poser and collect them just to have them and don't even listen to them or have a record player. vent is over now...
They live in southern California so I don't think coat storage is concern for them and it looks like they wear their shoes inside so they probably just put them in their bedroom closet.

Part of the reason why I loved Mr.Kate was because I could relate to how
she decorated and her process was fun and inspiring. I love the DIYs, the
fact that she is thrifty and young like me.... Now it seems very "I've made
alot of money and spend like I have the budget of a much older person" and
it just isn't relatable, and actually a little boring snoring :(. There are
PLENTY of people doing design blogs, shows, etc. featuring everything they
have bought from high end stores, retail, etc. The old Kate would have
found a couch at a thrift store, refinished the chairs herself, ETC ETC.
Sorry, but I just find this a little stale :(
She has redone a lot of furniture and other stuff in her house but you can't expect her to DIY everything. That would take so long and not even get the desired look. Of course she has bought some things but she hasn't "changed"
After finishing up the interior of the house and living in it for about a year now, we've found ourselves spending most of our time in the downstairs living area.
+Rachel Radcliffe Sure, no problem. I'd probably test it with a 2/1, let it dry, then add some of your clear coat, and see what you think. That's probably a good sweet spot to try.
+MrDiyDork Thank you so much for your help on this! We have 4 kids so I want that washed look but not super white since it might be hard to maintain. Great idea to do some tests to get the right effect. I really like how your floors turned out.
+Rachel Radcliffe It really depends on how whitewashed you want them. I originally wanted them super washed out, but the oil based poly darkened them and added a bit of amber back to them. I'd test out the 1.5/1 or 2/1 on a scrap piece and see how it looks with the clear coat. Also, if you use water based clear coat, it will give it that slightly darker "wet" color, but won't amber out like the oil based clear did to ours. I'd probably use water based next time. I wasn't sure if the water based poly would affect the nail heads & slightly rust them, but I don't think it would be a big concern now.
+MrDiyDork On the floor videos, what ratio of water to paint would you use if you had to do it again? (I noticed you went back over them with a 1.5:1 as a second coat.)
I don't remember exactly now. I know we found it online though. It seems like my wife found it during a flash sale on Zulily or ModCloth maybe? It's basically an Eames rocker look-a-like. Do a search for "Eames rocker" and I'm sure they'll pop up. The one we got is white (plastic) with a black (pleather?) padded & upholstered top.
+mascottie My wife bought the couch at a local store that sold contemporay/modern furniture before we got married. I don't remember the brand though. I've noticed that CB2 has some similar couches in the same price range. Their site and catalogs are worth checking out.
