well there are. the guys with 1700hp+ twin turbo vipers switch to a 3 or 2 speed automatic. In high hp applications, autos are better. They load the turbos more, and the low no. of gears keep the engine in-gear as much as possible. Top fuel dragsters have 2spd trans :)

Proper drag racing isn't about side by side, and off the line first mate, but who covers the distance in the quicker time, as well as dial-ins being included, amongst other things

this is cool. Plan on pushing my GC8 P1 to 600bhp and hitting TOTB. Viper driver did mess up his launch though, poor driving but it happens.
