Here is a question for the people saying its just a name and not a big
deal... If its not a big deal then why are you so upset about them changing
the name? Is there perhaps another reason why you're really upset? :o
Because it's been the name of the team since the team was made. That's like you being forced to change your name from Sarah to something else because people don't like your name. You're so used to something for so long, changing it, especially if you're rather attached to what that name is (In this case many people's favourite football team) is rather hard to just be okay with.
+PhoenixDog2160 I'm afraid I have to agree with you. After Bush and Obama it's going to take a long time to bring this country back. Trust me most of my generation is completely fed up with this shit.
+karl john I never claimed to be better than anyone else. The fact the government can just take away this team's patent is insane. It's almost as crazy as claiming all of Louis Lerner's emails were lost lol. Have a good day man!
David. If you really believe this is something to be concerned about, look
at what we're dealing with in the world. We're considering going
into...oh. Wait. Obama has already dropped troops into Iraq ...FUCKING
AGAIN. The LGBT community doesn't have nearly as much support as this shit
does. We're seriously fucking worried about a sports team name when we
have so much other shit going on? Shootings happen every day, and we're
worried about people being offended by A FUCKING SPORTS TEAM NAME.
Yes, because mentioning a current event in an Independent News Channel, whether it's sports or not is grounds to attack them. Right....Okay. He's NEVER talked about the ongoing International conflicts, ever.
we can do it all if we really want to. we can;pull all troops, advisors, and oil company big wigs from the Middle Eastcut all aid to Israelgive full support to the L.G.B.T. community just by signing a law into placeand changing the names of offensive sports teams in one day.
Again I will ask this question which no one will probably respond to but
wouldn't Columbus day and thanksgiving be more offensive then redskins? Why
isn't the left advocating to not celebrate these holidays? Wanting to
change a name that supposedly only 30% of native Americans find offensive
sounds like there is an ulterior motive to me.
+BrownBoyzOutdoor there r better ways to honor your people mate. Like all the teams, with non native mascots and sterotypes, honoring ur people on a special week by wearing uniforms with native themes designed and endorsed by your people (like wearing pink for cancer, see Australian Football League teams doing this for our native peoples).Heck, the people that love this team I bet agree with the GOP guy that was upset with the Governor of New Mexico talking with natives, saying it was disrespecting coronal Custer! Makes me support Mark Charles idea of a separate Virtual Native State ;)
I'm Native American and my favorite nfl team is the redskins coincidentally and I'm pissed they're making them change their name. It doesn't offend me at all...I really think that more white people are offended than native Americans
Columbus day, the Canadian Thanksgiving ironically, yes.Thanksgiving, no, not even the Canadian one as it's when the harvest is.What the solution should be for Columbus day, Idk...
+illusion of freedom No mention of Columbus day, huh? And w/o the mass slaughtering of native Americans there would be no thanksgiving. There's no way you can argue that point That's why no one responds. You're trying to stick up for native Americans when at least 70% of native Americans don't find it offensive but I guarantee much more would find Columbus day and thanksgiving much more offensive.
yes, i think there is a alternative motive in it . it's called equal rights.no one has the right to discriminated against another race .you have no more right to offend a Indian then you do a black or Mexicans or any race ''thanksgiving''' is not offending anybody, except a few turkeys. why wouldn't we celebrate that ?
