why is everyone losing their minds over water? if you drive in the rain
there is water from the grill getting flung all over by the fan and water
getting splashed from the tires. it's a non issue
+balzarini51 It's not so much incoming water from the rad, but from above. The TPS is particularly sensitive to water and having a direct hole right about it seems to increase the failure chance by quite a bit.
Hey Nick, you said you wanna replace that underhood light. Well a buddy of
mine has a K5 Blazer with this really awesome retractable hood lamp, the
cord is like easily 12ft long. You can fling it down to work on the
drivetrain. Thought it would be a cool idea for ya. I'm probably gonna put
one on my jeeps. I was told you can find them on 80s and early 90s gm
trucks and suvs.
That night snow run was pretty sick. Except where you broke your back window. Although my XJ is going bye bye, everytime I watch your videos it makes me wanna just go more in debt.
+NickInTimeFilms a shroud helps to utilize the whole surface of the radiator. Without it you are only pulling air through where the fans are. If the vents don't solve your cooling issues then a shroud is probably the next logical step.
I'm not absolutely sold on that design. I see the cuts are vertical, so the
drops dripping from the top of the cut can end up inside, instead of on the
recess where they are supposed to go.
If the bumps on the vents would be at an angle air would get out all the
same, but dripping water could not get inside at all.
They will help with the heat though, there's no doubt about that :D
+Iñigo Zapata It may not be a perfect design, but it's the best I've seen with water intrusion in mind. I'm thinking that adding lips around the cuts would either make it harder to manufacture, or just cost too much to be justified. There is always room for improvement, but it does well enough for me.
