If your hard drive is set-up then plugging into the laptop should be fine.
The only uissue is that windows 8 might not be fully supported. I would do
a test run with the laptop and your hard drive pre wedding to make sure
that the music is seen by the machine. I know with Serato DJ it doesn't
support Windows 8 but I don't know about Itch. Also make sure the drive is
formatted to FAT32 so you may want to move the files off the drive, format
to FAT32, and then try it. Good luck.
Hi, thanks for the tips. I have a question though: I'm gonna throw a gig at
a wedding party as well. The thing is, that I'm borrowing the bride's
laptop, because I only have an iMac. What would be the most convenient way
to move the wedding crate from my Mac to a Windows 8 computer, along with
all the beatgrid and metadata information if possible? I have installed
Itch on it and it seemed to work fine, I just need to bring the music later
on wedding day.
For special songs, I add the Comment Column and label it like, 1st DANCE,
BRIDE/DAD, CAKE, INTRO and whatever, under the folder "THIS gig". I'm kinda
blind so the caps help it pop. And thanks for the towel tip, just had a gig
last night and was thinking "how the hell can I stop from banging up my
bumper" :D Mahalos for the vids!
Forgot to mention that my Serato crates are located on the built-in drive
on my home computer and I only have USB sticks for transferring files. I
was wondering, if it is possible copy the music and the crate files to a
USB drive, then copy them to the laptop and relocate the files in Serato,
if necessary.
I started to do that, but I get lazy fast with the typing! But I want to
start putting comments live like Great dance track/Worked well/Garter or
Bouquet song. This way in the future I would have a better referrence point
at gigs.
haha, I can relate to the lazy part! Good thing about it though is those
last minute changes, or couples that never decided on songs, you can just
search whatever "song" you need and the whole list of options pop up.
I have a Crate for the event with the requested songs and then I color the
important tracks (First Dance/Father daughter/Mother son/etc) so I can find
those quicker..
Great tip! I do the same thing, I make a folder using the couple's name,
and put all the "special" songs in there, that way its super easy to find,
no stress!
