RS-24 is to have MUCH heavier throw weight than Topol, so, don't worry about throw weight, we'll see how much RS-24 will have (I bet still more than any american missile. Plus, Topol's warhead impact was videotaped, do you know what that means? Ok, I'll tell you, it means CEP was so small, it was possible to film the impact. Now, why having huge throw weight, while you can achieve same thing with smaller, more accurate warhead? It uses GPS, same as Trident 2 (the only reason for its accuracy)

So hopefully this clears up that I wasn't saying that Russian missiles were inferior. Simply that I don't see the need for Russia to continue build more advance missiles, when the old one can still do the job just as effectively. The US can build their own rockets but it's cheaper to recycle old rockets, the Titans are being recycled to launch missiles into orbit. Rockets are expensive and toxic to dispose of unless their used up for their intended purpose, to launch a vehicle into space.

Macrojay, as for your numbers on stages of missiles, please send me a link, because if it is another Pavel Podvig's speculation, I am not really inclined to believe in it, considering the fact that he was wrong once allready about RS-24 being Topol M, which it is not. After all, minuteman is not made to be immune to ABm shield and has no MARV. Anf if you are interested, Topol M without anti-ABM measures can deploy 6 x 550KT warehads. SS-18 can go for about 20-30 considering throw-weight.

I agree, russian SLBM are not as good, but then again, US ICBM are not as good as russina ones. Sorry, bulava doesn't need any MARV, too close to be intercepted. What are you talking about? RS-24 will be deployed in 2009!!! RS-24 can carry MARV. Where the FUCK are you getting your information? REad sources, PLEASE, otherwise it is hard to continue this conversation. Trident d5 has CEP 90 meters as far as I know, but topol M has no larger (same type of guidance) if not smaller.

the 1st operational ICBM basically was the SS-6, actually USSR during those days were catching up to american counterparts building it's own fusion tech. and delivery sys. w/c the US is busy building diff. configuration of fusion tech, unaware that USSR is pursuing building their ICBM delivery sys w/c the latter part that they found out that USSR tested the 1st ICBM, w/c in turn US is catching up against USSR building their own delivery sys. basically a tit for tat arms race.

RS-24 is much heavier than Topol m. Jesus, where are you reading all of those junk you are posting? I am reading stuff from russian sources by the way, direct claims of Solomonov and other officials. I would suggest reading more sources. Plus, IF RS-24 is Topol m, and it will carry up to 10 warheads, that is not that bad for 47 tons missile, is it? Anyway, that is a pure contingency, since RS-24 is a heavier missile to replace SS-18 and SS-19 (I hope you read about that).

It did the job required? How? SS-20 had range of 5500 km, while Puny Pershing had range of 1700 km, plus SS-20 had bigger warhead. SS-20 could destroy Pershing site from the range more than twice that of Pershing, although both were mobile. Still, Pershing was at tremendous disadvantage in range. Russia builds new missiles because old ones are outdated and are being replaced, it is normal practice, USA will do that also, then Russia will, then USA will and so on.

Eh, Western intelligence has predicted for quite a while that the current RV's on Russian missiles have terminal guidance and maneuvering systems. It's not exactly a new technology, the Indians or the Pakistani's (can't remember which) have been working on a hyperfoil design that can let warheads come in at much shallower angles. The US Pershing II also had a terminal guidance package since it was meant to hit critical, deep targets very quickly and accuratly.

ABM shield is only to counter N Korea, Iran, a possible launch of one missile because of an accident from Russia, and possibly China. But US acknowledges that it won't stop Russia in a full-scale attack because it's impossible. Simply the numbers involved, even obsolete Russian ICBM will get through the shield. And building a shield doesn't start a war and the ABM treaty basically is obsolete because the country: Soviet Union no longer exists.

obsolete russan ICBMs? SS-19 is newer than some US ICBMs, should we declare out right US icbms obsolete? Russian missiles are WAY mope powerful than US ones, take SS-18 for example, tell me which US ICBM even closely matches it in terms of destruction? And hey, newest US space launcher, Atlas-5 uses russian made engine, ahhh, what would US do without those "technologically inferior" (LOL) russians ;) What's wrong, can't make your own engines?

Ok, now it starts to be clear, you simply don't know what RS-24 is. WHERE did Solomonov confirm that, a link please. Of course the video will not be avalable, are you joking. And Topol has CEP of less than 250 meters (how much less is classified of course). Jesus Christ, GET A CLUE dude. P.S. I meant close by impact of topol's warhead, not from some kilometers away. Solomonov said the following: "RS-24 is built using technology of Topol M".

HAHAHAHA, First ICBM? do you know what makes ICBM ICBM?? Range does. first ICBM in the world is RUSSIAN R-7, same missile served as a launcher for first world's sattelite. Germany invented first BALLISTIC missile, but it could only be classified as short range ballistic missile, plus, german missile was TERRIBLY inaccurate even for it's short range. You're right, first MIRVed ICBm is Minuteman, but it carried only 3 warheads.

manuevering warheads is 60's technology? REally? do research, Russia was the first nation to introduce it in 2004. It will be intercepted inside of Russia, a country that spans 9000 km from west to east?? Nice, I wonder how? Also, Topol M has new engine, which makes boost phase 1-2 minutes, not nearly enough to calculate trajectory and launch a missile, plus it manueverse on boost phase. YOU are plain ignorant, not him.
