Joe Bonamassa - Stones in My Passway - Live at the Vienna Opera House
Joe Bonamassa plays "Stones in My Passway" live at the Vienna Opera House in Vienna, Austria. You can find this song on Joe's "An Acoustic Evening at the ...
Bill Haley and his Comets performing Shake Rattle and Roll in Vienna in December 1976. The Comets then included, Bill Turner (Lead Guitar), Herb Hutchinson ...
@wins151 I agree..when you think of all those films in the 60's His Vegas
concerts consisted of about a ten minute medley of his 50's hits. It's as if
he took it as a joke and just a bit of a throw away part of his later
act.Yet they still called him the KING of rock'n'roll which is beyond
me.Presley had a great voice and was good looking but he was no GOD as some
people make out. He was just a good singer. i saw Presley live in 1973 and
he was good.I saw haley many times and was the REAL DEAL.
His earliest 'jump' records were more "rockabilly" except for "Crazy Man,
Crazy" which finally brought the big beat of drums into rockabilly, thus
turning it into "Rock & Roll". Ike Turner/Jackie Brenston's "Rocket 88"
wasn't anywhere near rock & roll either--it was a loping shuffle 'r&b jump
blues' and Haley's version was closer to rockabilly/western swing--but the
snappy bass still made Bill's version closer to R&R! Also Ike NEVER went on
to record anything else closer to R&R- but Bill did!
Really good to see Bill Haley as always,The king of rock and roll ,and why
he is the king , because, he start it all with Rock the joint to night
loooooong time ago, and belived and loved the sound of rockabilly. Chuk
Berry, said Bill Haley, was a man who go back where he began and play the
music always how it sound from the first time he play it, Chuck Berry sound
like ,you hear one you hear them all , he is still in jale ,for you know
what
The guys are just great many thanks for bringing the memories of the great
man and his band. Well done let the 1950's rock and Roll. Down here in
Australia Bill was huge as was one WILD ONE Mr Johnny O Keefe the King of
Rock and Roll Australia. BH Came to Australia on many tours together, the
joint was just rockin. Sadly both of these great artist NO masters of their
trade are no longer with us. WELL DONE
Hi Chimbo, George Baker actually was a very good sax player-that one video
of him in Austria just happened to be early on the tour, and the band was
still jet-lagged. He did do one tour with Haley for 5 weeks in Europe back
in November/December 1976. He learned that entire show in just 2 weeks--so
I know he's a great player. I'm the guy who trained him. But of course,
NOBODY could ever replace Rudy.
Bill Haley saw it all during his life. He saw an invention called
television make its way into homes. Then came color. On Feb. 9, 1981, Haley
died. At the time of his death, cable and satellite were beginning to make
inroads into homes across the country. Six months later, a cable network
calling itself MTV debuted, and as the late Paul Harvey would say, "You
know the rest of the story."
I misread I thought it was Australia! I was doing a bit of research to send
my 75 yr wife out there for some pro-active hands on field study involving
Box Jelly Fish, Salt Water Crocodile's, Funnel Web And Red Back Spiders,
Blue Ringed Octopuses, Tiger Snakes And Great White Sharks! I'm quite
prepared to provide these creatures with all necessary self protection and
ear muffs!
Yes--you're right! The reason was that their AGENTS were trying to MARKET
them to the new generation still under the sway of psychedilia, and they
had to somehow appear to be "revelant" to the then-current market!
Remember, there wasn't much "nostalgia" back in '68..just "folk music" and
Dixieland!
Johnny Bam Bam Lane died a few months back,I don't know all the details but
Bam Bam played before me and again after me with Haley. He also had his own
Comet band which btw was after he and Al Rappa split with their Comets
group. Bam Bam I bielieve was 60 yrs old. Thanks, bnxcomet
@bnxcomet Oh man, you are so lucky!!!I´m 24 and I can´t believe that I'm
talking to you!!!I think you´re one of the most specatular drumers in the
history!!! and you played with BILL. I can´t believe it!!!My father and I
are great fans of yours...You were just AMAZING!!!
@Weidenberg My mistake. A thousand pardons. After all, the only German I
know is what I picked up by watching "Hogan's Heroes" on TV. I wonder if
General Burkhalter on that show was German or Austrian....and by the way,
wasn't Adolf Hitler originally from Austria?
Hi Pickinbuddy. Ok and thanks for the info. Of course George Baker was
better later on.And I do respect that you trained him. It was just "See You
Later Alligator" that you could see on Bills face that he was`nt happy. I
am sure he missed Rudy. Take care.
