2 Month Loc Update | DIY Starter Dreadlocks, Dreads, Locs on Long Hair
Check out my 2 month loc update. Included in this video you'll see my results with interlock retightening, the aftermath of using scissors, matting at the roots, loc ...
Sometimes the size of one's locs may be attributed to the thickness and
density of the hair in that section of the head. If baby locs are made the
same size all over one's head, then there is a good chance that their size
will vary once they've matured. In this case, smaller or thinner locs may
be combined to match the size of thicker locs, but the parting size will be
different. Your locs are beautiful and you have done an amazing job as a
DIYer. Cheers to you sis! I'm looking forward to watching more of your
videos :)
+Aisling Love I would definitely like to and I'm hopeful that things will change this year so that I'll have the time to post an update. Thank you for caring so much. :)
I love your hair. I started my locs with braids 3 years ago. my hair was
soft and that was the best method. i had some of the same issues with
marrying locs in the beginning. I retighten my own hair and trust me you
will get faster with time. Enjoy your journey!!
+treeine Thank you! It's always encouraging to hear that I'm not the only one struggling with loc issues (i.e. the matting/marrying locs). I'm not alone!
Your locks are gorgeous! Detangler and conditioners are not so good for
starter locks.
Look up videos on "popping" which causes less damage than cutting.
I have micro-locks which I started with 3 strand twists and maintain by
latching since 2010.
+Crafts & Glory I really don't plan on doing either. I've always combined out of necessity, not for a particular aesthetic appearance (so fingers crossed, I won't need to do it anymore). As for addressing new growth, I think I'm gonna hang in there and ride that out too. I like interlocking bc its product free and allows me to wet my hair often.... sooo for now ill continue interlocking until further notice :)
i know how it feel , i started mine when i moved out of my parents and good luck with your dread journey
No Itchy Scalp for Me | - JenellBStewart
In this latest FAQ video I share what I do to keep my scalp clean and moisturized. How do you keep your scalp from getting itchy? Share below! DONATE ...
Thanks for the video. It is very informative and I love your makeup. Would
you please tell me aboout the type of foundation, blush & lipstick you are
wearing?
Thanks in advance.
+DivineLove80 my foundation is CoverGirl Queen all day flawless color rich mink. blush: black radiance black raspberry. lipstick is Mac rebel with vera moore lipgloss on top.
I have protective style marley twist and I decided to not shampoo my hair
until one month. For some reason the minute my hair was braided my scalp
started to itch a lot, and when I look on my scalp and I was dry very dry.
Even though, I have moisturize it and everything. I just didn't understand
why am I getting dandruff. I have never had those issues before, and it is
not like im putting too much products. I tried coconut oil too it seems to
a little bit,but it wasn't enough. I was so sick n tried of the
itching....I was so close to take twist off b of it. After, two weeks of
itching it didn't have no choice to shampoo it. So, I have realized that
when I left my hair alone like everyone says when you leave your hair alone
the better.... well mine is totally the opposite. I have to co-wash once
week while im having my protective style and make sure moisturize it
everyday just the way I do my hair regiment. That's the only way ... my
scalp don't get dandruff or itching. Have you guys had these issues before?
+Liz Lizzie I used to get braids (extensions) done all the time. I ALWAYS got terrible dandruff and itchiness when I did my hair that way. I've heard that a lot of other women have the same problem. I find that braid sprays (spray moisterizers specifically for braids, locs, and twists) help somewhat, but don't get rid of the problem.
+Liz Lizzie Some people are actually allergic to the synthetic and/or human hair. They coat the hair in preservatives to keep it fresh in packaging, to color it and a bunch of other reasons. The chemicals actually do irritate the scalp/skin and many women not only have dry scalp, but the itchiness is an allergic reaction, the dandruff could also be a sign of an allergic reaction and someone people have reported sores.
First I would like to say THANK YOU. I have learned so much since I started
following you about four years ago. Whenever I apply oil directly on my
scalp it itch dries out and become flaky. It there an alternative to using
oil? I also tried shea butter and got the same results
Its dry and itchy when I dont use anything. It becomes worst when I add anything. I find myself washing my hair more often to keep the flakes down it makes my hair look so dirty
+Yolanda Sailor what happens when you don't put it anything on your scalp at all? If you're fine, then don't put it on your scalp. Just use it on your hair.
I used to get flakes and my scalp was itchy. But no more :-) After I
shampoo, I use an oil cocktail: JBCO, tea tree oil (a few drops), and
rosemary essential oil (a few drops). In addition, spritz my hair & run
through to scalp every night with a cocktail of water, leave in
conditioner, and my oil cocktail. This regime is easy and leaves my hair
and scalp happy!
