Plugging the Hole in Hawking's Black Hole Theory
MSU Professor Chris Adami has found the solution to a long-standing problem with Stephen Hawking's black hole theory. In a groundbreaking study recently ...
+Per SundströmYes Sixty Symbols video mentions pair production and Hawking radiation, Good video!. Pair production also happens with high energy photons close to heavy nuclei. The photons need to have twice the electron rest energy to produce electron positron pairs. This is semi-classicalPair production around black holes is similar, except that the tiny region where pair production occurs is distorted by gravitational, rather than nuclear potential.Information encoded in incident particles is mirrored and encoded on particle pairs. The proposal here, that of classical black body radiation addresses information at classical scales.
I've read civil engineering physics and have troubles wrapping my head around this.So can imagine others have similar problems. We need someone to explain this like I'm 5 :)
As a result of stimulated emission (where high energy electrons are forced to emit energy in the form of a photon–particle of light–from the influence of an external photon) and the energy that is released from this process, energy from emitted photons can produce particles in the form of electron and anti electron pairs, which usually collide and annihilate almost instantaneously (these are known as 'virtual particles'). However when these pairs form in the vicinity of a black hole, one may be pulled in and the other escapes. Due to entanglement (a seriously crazy phenomenon where essentially what you do to one particle instantly affects another) the information contained in the particle that has been pulled in by the black hole is still retained by the escaped particle, hence a 'copy' of the information of the particle inside the black hole is kept unscathed outside, kind of like throwing one end of a tin can telephone in and keeping the other end with you, and what happens on the other end you can detect on your end.Hope this is both correct and scientifically accurate :P
