@giogio4445 you're right;she looksEXACTLY like a female actress
comedienne;the one on Curb your Enthusiasm who got offended by Larry Davis
when he suggested she name her adopted Chinese child "Tang"...
@chocolatecrackcookie It's about what you choose to EAT. Not what you
choose to make. I'm perfectly healthy sized, but I think it's nice to
indulge every once in a while, and these videos are a good place to choose
something. A lot of Americans are overweight because they were either
raised on an unhealthy diet and made it part of their lifestyle, or they're
too busy with something else or uninformed to care about the nutritional
value of what they put in their bodies.
@cay311 I am so sick & tired of you muslims trying to impose your backward
medevil culture/values on us in the west if you do not like what eat or our
culture why dont you go back too your dusty shithole country you come
from.Because islam is evil it is backward it does not promote peace only
violence against non muslims & oppression/killing of women this is not
something we in the west codone & we should not allow islam to enter our
countries.
I've had fresh cooked baked beans before and they taste absolutely
delicious compared to a commercial can version. I find this your method
interesting chef. Especially at the final part where you remove the top of
pot and just to let the pot broil for a bit. Usually it can be served
without the broil but your method gives the beans a wild kick to it. NICE!!
An oven-safe pot may work ok, depending on the metal and how thick it is,
but dutch ovens are just as good inside a regular oven as they are for
cooking outdoors, so it's by no means unnecessary. If you have a dutch oven
I'd recommend that you use it, if not don't feel pressured to go out and
get one, though.
These look awesome, will be trying these with my bbq pulled pork
sandwiches. Thanks Chef John P.S. Easy way to clean that pot, add one used
dryer sheet, let sit for 10 min. and scrub with dryer sheets, all that
stuck food comes right off! (always re wash with soap and water)
Love your recipes, but for the baked beans I prefer my mom's. She uses the
white beans, onions, yellow mustard, smoked pork, salt, pepper and her
secret ingredient a bottle of Dow beer. She bakes it overnight and we used
to eat them on Sunday morning. Delicious !!!
I've made this recipe with a few alterations. I boiled the beans (simmered)
for close to 2 hours and I had to bake them between 3 and 4 hours. For me,
the took a lot longer than suggested to get them nice and tender. Thanks
Chef John, the flavor was amazing!
My dad made the best beans, according to me, lol He babied them for 8 hours
nad they were so very good it was a whole meal with some crusty breadd wow.
My dad was American Indian so the recipe was opassed down, but I never got
it. too bad. this looks good to
Chef John! I'm so happy you're posting a video while I'm typing this
(hopefully I could view it when I'm done!). I bet it's as good as your
other 300. Anyway I wanted to vote for you but couldnt because I'm not from
the US. I know that sucks....
ok, created an account there, and voted for my favorite TV-Chef,
Internet-Chef, Super-Chef John! :) Unfortunately, you can't see your
position in the competition :( Well, I couldn't. THIS looks YUMMY, Chef
John, Boston Baked Beans!!! :)
baking soda helps softening and also promotes browning (being alkaline)
however, adding salt at the beginning will prolong cooking time, since it
hardens the beans. do try to add salt after beans are soften.
again it's great because he teaches technique. after that is learned the
applications are numerous to say the least. I like putting in some smoked
paprika and chopped Taso. Love your vids Chef John.
Are dutch ovens needed if you're going to cook in a regular oven? I did
some research and I learned that dutch ovens were originally for outdoor
use. That would explain the thickness of the pot.
you are an amazing cook extremely talented and practicle and just listening
to your voice inspires me to cook. thank you for all of your time that is
put into all of the videos and recipes.
Thanks Chef John. I grew up in Boston and these beans are very similar to
what I ate as a kid. I tend to put a lot more spices and a bunch of other
stuff up in it :)
Well we made this and it came out great. We also had stuffed cabbage.
Suffice to say the whole house sounded liker the Boston Pops Orchestra all
night. Hiyyoooooo!
I always have to watch videos of people cooking yummy food because all my
parents cook is bland meat, steamed rice, and vegetables, always sauteed,
ALWAYS.
