I'm not even sure if Robben's solo was scheduled - this could be one of
those ad hoc 'come on stage and sing the last song with me' moments. I've
seen him play and he is excellent but he kind of goes all over the place in
this solo - its like "$hit, Im on, really? Oh right, where am I" Still good
for all that - and George is so gracious, there really is no edge with the
guy - he always gives guests credit - I went to one gig and he let his band
warm up for 30 minutes with Stanley banks leading them - it was great fun.
+JilaX - Robben is decent and I love the way he bends things and makes songs his own but people like George Benson are rare... the notes flows out of him almost like his brain isn't getting in the way - he isn't thinking about it, its just natural. I heard Eric Clapton say this once about Stevie Ray Vaughn too... Slowhand rated him most highly because he had the same touch - notes just fell out of him during a jam.
When i first heard this, I thought Robben was not there. But when i really
listened to it, he plays some very good stuff. It's just the difference in
the styles. Robben doesn't articulate like Benson, but the shit he is
playing is just as good!
+kckennedy55 ABSOLUTELY!!! Robben wouldn't have been invited to play, if George didn't think he was hot stuff, which is was,,, and is!!!!

FOR HIM WHEN HE DIED IN A CAR ACCIDDENT C U ON THE OTHERSIDE HOPFULLY NOT
TO SOON
There have been many a smoky nights listening to this song in college back
a few decades. That solo is still the most soulful i've ever heard from the
most sophisticated guitar player ever. Listen to the phrasing.
I'm always blown away by Robben's feel and TONE! This is a brilliant
interpretation of this song by a brilliant artist! If there was a Mt.
Rushmore for guitarists Mr. Ford would surely be on it!
finally here ... thank you so much .... every don´t let robben´s version
was blocked by author laws .... i´m so thankful that´s here .... relaxed
mood and listenin´
This is absolutely the best and most brilliant version of this song.
Cannonball Shuffle - Robben Ford (cover) HD
Cover of the instrumental song 'Cannonball Shuffle' by Robben Ford. Robben is one of my favourite guitarists and is a monster player with a killer tone to boot.
To be honest I would ditch the tabs, just learn it by ear and from watching
videos of Robben, I've found most tabs are incorrect anyway. If you
desperately want tabs though, I think they tabbed it out in Guitar
Techniques magazine at some point
great cover. Saw Robben on Sunday, he didn't play this, bit disappointed
but can't complain it was a fantastic gig. Amazing talent. How did you set
up your effects to get that great sound - what pedals/amp - how much
distortion/reverb etc?
You are a gifted guitarist. I've used your vid to learn this tune for
myself. What is the name on the Headstock. It doesn't look like "Gibson".
The guitar has great tone.
Man, Robben is one of my favs, you definitely did this classic justice.
Those vintage guitars are quite an instrurment for the buck, ain't they?
Cheers.
