Watch Repair and Servicing - Myths, Tips and True Cost - Episode 10
In this episode of Federico Talks Watches I discuss luxury watch/timepiece repair and servicing. There is a lot of misinformation out there in regards to the repair ...
Wow, just watched your vid with Urb, You are a ticking encyclopaedia!, you
really do your research, if this is what is in store for us here this
channel will do very well. you have a great enthusiasm.
I really like where this channel is going, 2 quick thing feddy, lower cam a
bit so your watch visible throughout the show, we like watches and helps us
to appreciate it more and even envision how it would be on our wrists.. or
raise ur chair up a bit!, also at the end the email link (black) perhaps a
better font that contrasts.. it's a little hard to see. Peace out.
Useful info? Yes it truly is. I would be curious to see the difference in
servicing costs between the different tiers below Rolex/Tudor level though.
For myself my most expensive piece is sub $500 Seiko. At what point does
the name brand expense fall away & the true labor cost of a movement
servicing appear?
I understand a full tear down, cleaning, assembly, & tuning are time
consuming. I wouldn't expect it to be free, but a $150 servicing on a
$100-$300 watch would be problematic for some.
+Federico I That would make sense. I wouldn't expect a multi hour process like that to be below, say, $75-$100 outside of watches where I have a frame of reference. thanks for the reply.
+psguardian Well to be honest. Servicing a seiko will be cheaper... But it will still run you a lot proportionately priced to the watch. That is why at this price point most people don't service, they just replace the watch with a new one.
Great information Federico. I didn't realize the likes of Omega and Rolex
would offer the choices you mentioned.
I rather imagined it would be an all or nothing situation when servicing
these brands.
If you refused some of the work as you suggested would it effect any
warranty they may give with the service?
Lastly , would you always advise using the AD for the work?
Once again a great video Cheers TC.
