+Jayde Monaghan You are still too young to remember the real nightlife of this music scene. The club scene will never be the same as it was back when these tunes were pumping.
My new preparedness hiking SHTF radio. Multy part videos of its capability. APRS basic intro vid, https://youtu.be/FGAYYHhRgmQ tags: shtf wrol prepper ...
Thanks for the info was thinking of getting another yaesu for SHTF but I
see you are recommending this one . I have two question for you if you
don't mind. First question with that radio do I have to get another antenna
or does the one that comes with it suffice ? Second question when modifying
do we have to take that back plate off or can we modify from the opening
you displayed ? Thanks for the time
+Isidro Estrada ?#1, yes the stock antenna will suffice. Though an after market antenna with higher gain will give you better performance. I plan on comparing hand held antennas in a vid later some time. From the opening I displayed. Its really not a recommendation, its just what I'm using right now. I really don't like to recommend gear. Though, I will definitely speak up about bad gear.
I have the FT1DR as well. I love it except for one thing. I'm scared the
plastic belt clip is going to break. I've put a hand strap on mine and loop
it to my backpack. Have you looked into belt clip alternatives for your
radio?
+safety86 I'm pretty rough with gear, usually I find a pouch or pocket to stuff it in. This is going to be different since you need the top exposed for the GPS reception. Thanks for watching.
Love the channel. Im just getting into radio/sdr. I have some questions
though. Forgive me if you have already answered this in the video.
1. Why would you prefer APRS to more bands in a SHTF situation?
2. How does the FT1DR compare to the VX-8DR? They can be purchased for the
same price.
Thanks for the knowledge.
+pvdeluca 1, Not really a preference, more of another tool in the box to use in addition to the conventional ways.2, Don't really know, I just played with the VX8DR once, years ago. One added feature is the digit mode. I might get another one for the family and run digital as a tac channel. Sort of like encryption by ignorance. Thanks for watching. I have to get off my lazy butt and look into SDR. So cheap yet I don't have one. One day.
+stabnshoot On average its $50 cheaper than the VX8. Also its digital capable where I might get a second radio for the family and talk digital instead of analog. There is probably no scanner that can decode yaesu digital signal except for another yaesu radio.
+lee radio Yaesu is the name of a neighborhood in Tokyo. Since this is a Japanese company, I would assume they either come from there or is somehow related to the founder(s) of the company.
