I like team Christina a lot. It might not be diverse, but it is full of
powerhouse vocalists. Adrianna, Dez, Sylvia, and De'borah are all strong.
Dez is specially makertable and will easily get the female votes. Devyn has
to step up her game to keep up with the other 4.
Laura's voice was " orgasmic " I meen wow :O and I agree that Deborah
annihilated the song but chevonne's voice is so special I really enjoy the
craziness she brings and the pitch " problems " she has is what I think
makes her voice likable to me anyways
Eh is what I thought of Christina's battles. Before the battles I only
liked Slyvia in which I still do but Adrianna was very good and this was
her best. I have so many mixed emotions on Blake but I'll address them in
his video.
OK; I just had to check to see if you were annoyed at the same thing I was
with this episode; That pissed me off soooo much; Yolanda's voice is so
amazing; I could see her delivering every performance if she made it to the
show; I recall last season Adam getting frustrated that the people who did
make it weren't delivering (with some exceptions); That wouldn't have been
an issue with an experience singer like Yolanda; Ugh, though is she is well
trained; not sure what else a couch could do
Yes she did, you are absolutely right. I think I was just trying to see it
from the other side, but you are right, Yolanda was very good. I just
wanted to make the point that since the judges are so obviously biased --
they rejected a good singer around 60 last season -- the producers should
find older people who sound younger so that we can see an older person get
on a team. But yes, Yolanda was a better singer than about half the singers
who got on teams. Anyway, nice video Robert.
they need to change the name of the show to "The YOUNG Voice". Yoland
Barber, should have, no question, been selected. She IS marketable. There
actually ARE people who want to listen to good singers, not bubble gum pop
music. Who are the greats we remember? Ella Fitzgerald..Sarah
Vaughn....Tony Bennett... Tony still sells out a crowd and has great duet
albums. Ok, done ranting. I just hope this "diss" turns out something
fabulous for Yolanda Barber!!!
I thumbed up cause im ready for the battle rounds!!! oddly enough, i
enjoyed this episode. some great singers came through and I liked them. you
hit the nail on the head with this one!! i agree with you on it all. YES
you better give out them tips!!! *grabs pen and pad* i too was sad that
yolanda didn't get any turns, i agree you could hear her age. i was wanting
her to do a more current song, but Get Here is classic and a true singer
should be able..
On Yolanda -- I agree that she was shafted because the 4 coaches didn't
want an old person on their team. They could certainly tell she was over
40. However I don't think a woman that age needs to sound so old. I'm 58
and I sound pretty young (check my channel if you're curious). I think
Yolanda and that other lady's voice sounded a bit too weathered. The Voice
producers should find older people who still sound young, and trick those
ageist judges.
Yeah, the industry is stupid if they exclude any demographic because there
are always, always exceptions. Tony Bennet for instance. And I also
remember George Burns had a huge hit song at age 90. Placido Domingo is 71
and sounds great. Sting and Stevie Wonder are over 60 and still great. I
think it's sad that The Voice has basically telegraphed to every lady over
fifty that she will be rejected if she's goes on that show.
I just don't like Cassadee's voice at all. I watched her band rise and
fall, I saw her and her band twice and have a few songs on my iPod. I just
can't stand it, it literally gives me a headache. It's also not fair that
she already had a record deal. This is the 3rd time someone that used to be
a little bit known (from the band scene) has made it on to the show and its
not fair to the other contestants.
Just went to watch a clip of Yolanda Barber. You are right. She can outsing
everyone on that panel. It is especially frustrating because the audience
vote plays a big part in the outcome. Let them decide how marketable
someone is. Christina's excuse about teams and types was nonsense. As I've
said before, these are actually anti-teams. The initial task is to devour
your own teammates, etc.
She is very very special. I know I'm not the only one who's totally upset
with the coaches on this. It's a shame, but still a reality (pun intended),
that major labels are still geared toward the youngest demographic. If you
keep in touch, send her my love and all the love of the ppl who were
rooting for her. Hopefully she picks up some gigs or a more permanent gig
from this.
Robert, Robert, Robert!!!!! Can I tell you how much I LOVE your reviews?!?!
Testify, Amen! I tuned in to your video review tonight because Ms Barber
and I were roommates and became friends during our experience on the
Voice!! Isn't she just the real deal?! I am SO happy that so many people
are upset about the outcome of her audition! Robert, you didn't even get
half the
@Rrainesong27 experience of Yolanda's real and fun personality on top of
her talent from that segment! "Mama Yo" as the younger contestants called
her, was always game for fun or to lend an ear, or to give a pep talk. I
love this woman, and we shared our faith and love of God and reminded each
other we were here for a purpose...to serve. Man, I hope she
I am so glad that I am not the only person upset about this! I mean, since
when is age an issue? Frankie Valli is still a big deal! Gah. I was
practically yelling at the screen! Anyway, I'm glad you thought she was
great too. Hopefully something happens for her- at the very least, I hope
she can stop driving that bus!
Yes she was in a band called Hey Monday and then went solo for awhile. She
has quite a internet following which probably will give her a edge in the
voting, If she survives the battle rounds. I don't think she did so well in
the audition which surprised me cuz she's been on stage a lot.
I love you Carson! But, I was already on the the fence about a few moments
from season 2(some undeserving talent there) . For me The Voice's integrity
has been damaged by what happened to Yolanda! I thought this show was about
the voice! Feeling a little shallow and formatted! A shame!
Yeah, I think the way she sounds and the things she's gone through all adds
to the connection ppl will have with her. The coaches are probably doing
what they've been taught by the industry. I'd expect that from everyone up
there except Ceelo tho.
I would generally agree that it's not fair but The Voice has made it clear
that they are looking ppl who didnt make it for whatever reason. As long as
they put it out front that they've had record deals and all that then I
guess I'm fine with it.
Cassadee Pope is a much better singer than what she brought tonight, I been
following her for quite awhile on YT, must have been nerves like you said.
No real standouts tonight just a lot of pork :D thumbin' you ^ good review
#RosewaterMovie - "Stand" - NOW PLAYING
ROSEWATER is NOW PLAYING: //openroadfil.ms/RWTheaters Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RosewaterMovie Twitter: ...
Gosh, I wonder how many people sat in a room and decided that "This Life"
was a good choice. It might turn out to be a hit but it is LAME. Jermaine
pushes and pinches that little voice of his to its limits, doesn't he?
Trevin on the other hand, has a creaminess that I dig. His tone sometimes
reminds me of Billy Porter. He riffs like Billy/Whitney too.
Yeah, They haven't had a Star yet on The Voice. I wonder why. It's not for
lack of talent. I actually just watched the video for the song and wasn't
crazy about that either and they threw a lotta autotune on his voice; maybe
that's what he was tryna emulate. Oy. I wish him well.
He's got a whole album coming in Dec; let's hope that's not the best he
got. I don't think he ever really pinned down the genre of music he should
be performing. He seemed to want to go rock in the competition but this is
so far from it.
I thought it was RIGGED!!!!!!! MACKENZIE DESERVED TO MOVE THROUGH!!!! CODY
DIDN'T IMPROVE EXCEPT FOR HIS VOICE GETTING MORE ANNOYING!!!!!! CEELO WAS
WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!!! UGH!!!! I'M TEARING UP NOW!!!!
Good job with the recap. Im happy with who got voted off. Next week though
anyone could go. But my prediction is trevin and terry. Trevin is too
pitchy with the low notes. I believe he still needs to grow into his voice
and terry well what is against him is that he isnt even from this country
so in the end we will vote for our own first if all are pretty equal. Cheers
Melanie has gone from my least favorite to my favorite. Cassadee seems to
be slipping into that country/rock genre very comfortably, could be what
she needs. Glad your favorites got thru also. Dez has the screaming female
vote locked up and it's gonna be hard to overcome that. Thanks Robert for
the reviews,
why the hell is Melanie Martinez still in this competition? she's horrible.
do you really think Melanie is better than Sylvia? I know you're happy
about Amanda etc. but I'm shocked that you passed over the fact that
Melanie is still on this show. She is very very bad. Still in z shock.
yes it does make it interesting, then you have to wait and see who gains
the votes of another contestant being voted off. I think Melanie is at a
disadvantage there because she is so unique. The top 10 thing could be the
deceiding factor the more it goes on.
I think America got it right. I don't know why Amanda and Trevon where at
the bottom 4, may be they just wanted to make it dramatic, I don't know -
but I was extremely nervous. I do think America liked and enjoyed Cody
performance and they rewarded him.
I'm just wondering what I said about Melanie that would make you think I'd
want her to win? not even close. I thought she'd be gone tonight but I
guess the audience loved her rendition enough to buy it up like hotcakes
and keep her around.
Sry, I was outta town for the Holidays and didnt even see it yet. All I
watched was Carly's performance. Did you check out Big Tasia's commentary.
She's my recommendation tho I haven't watched any commentary either.
I knew they were gonna save him for damn near last cause he did that
uptempo song; they wrong for that AND for Amanda Brown, but I aint mad at
em. It's was drama for me the whole show. lol. mission accomplished.
They sent the right two packin'! I wouldn't have turned my chair for either
of them. Poor Trevin was up there sweatin' like Sarah Vaughan - they had
his nerves so bad, waiting that long. Good for Amanda!
Melanie has a good enough voice but she's in the show because America made
her song #8 on the iTunes charts. She obviously got a lotta love right
where The Voice thinks it's important: Cash sales.
Sylvia deserved to stay over Cody... Cody is not good enough to still be
here. I hate to say it but its true. He was good to make it to the knock
outs, but seriously his leaving is way over due
that's a lotta pressure ; -- ) I was screaming more than that when they
first announced my ppl had gone through. Should start having the camera set
up for the results.
Dr Jeff. I couldn't disagree more with you. Terry isn't going anywhere.
It's Cody and nick. Next round. Sorry but true. I predict Amanda brown to
take the whole thing.
I think he needs to flex his muscles a little. As an r&b artist, he's going
to have to do uptempo. Hopefully he'll pick a more challenging song next
time tho.
From my understanding, they don't call ppl in any particular order so
Amanda and Trevin weren't necessarily in the bottom 4. It's just for
dramatic effect.
Just finish watching the show and I'd have to say that it was the best
Voice episode that I have seen thus far. Everyone had such great
performances and there was good amount of variety as well. I loved it. My
personal top highlight was Cassadee & Amanda, Both outstanding
performances. Although I haven't really paid attention to Cody, as I think
he'd get eliminated off the show soon, I was pleasantly surprised by this
performance. I couldn't help but smile. He definitely raised his game.
great commentary as always, it was a very entertaining show. If I had to
pick 2 to leave it would be Terry and Cody. Terry just didn't bring
anything thing special to that song at all. It's been so over done by so
many bands it just needed something extra. Great opening performance on
your video :D
Would you say that Trevin might face the same fate as Avery? A singer with
a strong fanbase who loses because he sung a party that didn't catch "wow"
people over as before? I haven't been a fan of Trevin but I think there is
more of an uptempo song that would have been better then this.
For me I felt like Christina was withholding praise for Amanda (at least
that's what came across the TV with respect to her demeanor when commenting
on her performance). My hunch is that she wishes Amanda was on her team
because its becoming clearer that she could win this whole thing.
Ah I love Terry!!! Seriously he could barely stop coughing enough to give
his performance, and he still was absolutely incredible! He couldn't bring
it like he did for "Maybe I'm Amazed," but I forgive him for his this chest
cold that's been dogging him all week... :D Go Terry!!!!
You're so right about that arm waving, that was unnatural and obviously the
stage manager ordered them to do it. For me it wrecked that song and
spoiled a couple of others. The producer of that show has a compulsion to
overdue presentation which is a shame....
I asked trevin to do something contemporary in your last video but scream
isn't what I meant lol. I would've preffered climax or heart attack (trey
songz). I wish Melanie and Bryan would go home but I think Cody will
instead of Bryan.
Yeah, he was already coming down with the cold by last week's
performance... but if (when!) he makes it to next week, he'll be over it
and can sing like he did before the live rounds! I've missed good ol'
classic rock on the Voice :D
i really feel like christina is being a lame, because she is always tryna
criticize amanda on her direction as an artist yet contestants like
cassadee and dez (I like both of them thou) choose song outside their genre
. :\
Nah, that kid's voice is just okay for me. I don't get the hype at all. I
missed Amanda - shoot. I do like her though. I did, however, catch JHud
singing I Got Love!!!! Looking forward to that.
She gotta sang if she gonna be a singer, don't she? lol. I haven't really
felt her until the last 2 performances. She finally seems to be getting
comfortable.
