This version of the Cup Song, created in Berens River, Northern Manitoba, Canada, was the brainchild of Ken Davidson, music teacher @ Berens River School.
we need to reunite the berens river band and make a new video to update on
how good our community is doing still.. or find something new to make our
message..
-Tatyanna Monkman (the singer from the video)
Want to know how I judge good music? When it makes the hair on my arms
stand up. When it causes my breath to catch in my throat. When the chills
refuse to leave long after the song has finished. When it brings tears to
my eyes. I have heard this song done a lot of times, a lot of ways, and
none of them have done those things I've mentioned above. This cover, this
way, with this video did all of that. You should be very proud. Thank you
for showing me a part of Manitoba I never would have seen before. Thank you
for allowing us in to your little section of the world. I hope to see more
talent coming from you all. :D
whoaw...I heard about their version through the news. Even if the cup song
has been rehashed over and over, these young peeps make it entertaining and
inspiring. Kudos to them. As a radio manager, definitely highlighting them
in our music line up.
+Dave Rhodes If you feel you got something to contribute, other than throwing insults left and right, we will be listening. And I'm not even being sarcastic.
+Vetteman Green "No worries someday you will grow up and be a man."Well if that's the case, feel sorry for yourself not me. Sounds like you're out of options. Except for crying like a bitch. No worries, some day you'll grow up and be a real woman.
It's not about how many times the song was bloody sung, it's about the involvement of all of the kids, allowing THEM to feel like they created something powerful…The trust that the kids had in their teacher and of course the editing abilities of the editor…Its a lovely esteem builder for young people…You can only do that when they are young, a few times…Allow them to believe in the MYTH or MAGIC…Why would anyone ever be sarcastic or condemning of this. xx
+Larry RaberLarry, a little human leeway here, huh? I'm an American. And I love Canada, too. So much so that I wouldn't want to see Canada overwhelmed by anything, including Americans & Americanness, to the point that it loses its Canadianess. All of which Canadians will proudly decide for themselves. That said, how 'bout those lake-jewelled forests!
I'm so, so happy that I'm American. From the CTC: "US leisure travel represents Canada’s largest inbound travel market, accounting for 63% of all overnight inbound travellers in 2012. US leisure visitors took 10.1 million overnight trips to Canada in 2012, a 2.5% increase over 2011 and injected $4.8 billion in Canada’s tourism economy, a 4.3% increase over 2011." Furthermore, Canadians relocate to the U.S. thirteen times (per capita) more than Americans to Canada. Your P.S. comment is unwarranted. You need our money and want our citizenship...the numbers don't lie.
