+smiling dolphin please let women do what they please. if long hair is in fashion let them have it., if afro is in fashion let them have afro. lets not interfere. we had afro in the seventies. now it is long hair. chill man chill.
Everyone remember none of these "countries" existed during the slave trade!
They were created by by colonials and later broke into even more parts. So
the "country" some may think she is from is really irrelevant.
That being said it would be interesting to see her paternal line agents
from her brother.
+NuoImperialista not entirely accurate. the tribes are still there. lines were drawn to put these tribes together during partition of africa but the actual geographical area of the tribes are still intact
+Robeltoable I agree the health overview is the best feature about 23andMe, however, when you click on Africa it only breaks down to region (ie, West Africa, Central and South Africa, and Broadly Sub-Saharan African). Ancestry.com breaks down to country (ie, Nigeria Ivory Coast/Ghana, Benin/Togo, etc.) with percentages. When I got the 23andMe kit I wasn't expecting the health overview and if the feature wasn't included I would have been extremely disappointed.
+Rah 'The Merciful' When you click on the African or Europea section to the right it will give a breakdown on regions. Also 23andme offers health and medical results including traits inherited from parents and ancestors. This can make you more proactive in health decisions. This is the only one that offers comprehensive results. That is more important than anything else.
+Robeltoable 23andMe is alright compared to the information you get from Ancestry.com. I did tests with both, 23andMe's results say 80% sub-Saharan African which breaks down into 76% west African and that's as far as it breaks down, as opposed to Ancestry.com which say 82% African( Includes Northern Africa) which breaks down into 28% Nigerian, 24% Ivory Coast/Ghana, etc. This is my first time hearing of AfricanAncestry.com so I'm going to look into the fraud Jeanette talks about. When I did my kit with 23andMe the price was $99 back in 2012 which is the same price as Ancestry.com kits right now but 23andMe kits I believe have gone up to like $199.
+Jeannette Rook . huh? what's all that in reference to 23andme? that's just history. 23andme tells u your genetic history and what's inherited. Lena Walker looks Mulatto with more on the White side. anyway that's irrelevant to dna testing.
Once you start tracing your family Pull records for the Best Medical. When I record detail as much as possible. +Jeannette Rook . no bias but 23andme is largest plus they give us all inherited traits and medical information what u have and inherited from parents so u can be proactive. the results can be given to your doctor so they can prescribe proper medications, etc. they may cost more due to more information. it's the most used dna site.
Robeltoable Ancestry.com is a great company. I have been with them since 1999. I did my DNA and everything my mother told me about who I related to was confirmed with Ancestry.com My advice for the best results go with Ancestry.com. And its not that expensive. I have a blog //www.jeannettestakeonlife.blogspot.comJeannette
