About 2 weeks ago I bought a second hand Doepfer A-189-1 Voltage Controlled Bit Modifier. I build a +/-15V to +/-12V converter to power the module (though ...
I have to say MORE: overall this piece is the best Ive heard from you:
everything presents this Red Shift sound, even beyond the (step) sequencer
work, your choice of the hand played sounds as well... endless Bravo on
your work.. Iam wondering if you take interest in sustained drones on the
modular such as the 10 minute intro on Thighpaulsandra's "Michel Publicity
Window" which is obviously done on a complex envelope such as doepfer
a-143-2 quad ADSR, once again: endless praise for your work!
yes, Mark shreeve (as you say), pure Red Shift sound.. I had no idea this
was a specific module getting that "Red Shift" sound, I thought it was
specifically (over all) just the sound of the Moog (modular),,, your
presenting a better case than anyone in the convincing of me to go modular,
Iam currently very happy with my Schrittmacher/ Waldorf Q combo for
generating "Berlin School" sounds, this video has me lusting (again) a
pricey itch I thought Id ended for good.. namaste keyth
My darling, what a especially masterful beautiful track. New combination of
different sounds. I enjoy again on again, day in day out of your lovely
music. This track is an enrichment of your music file. Hopefully we can
have together for a long time, enjoying your beautiful creations. XXXX Anne
amazing just to watch you, let alone listen... my, where did you "learn"
how to do this? impressive technical knowledge... i feel small and
insignificant with my self taught knowledge in garageband and vst plugins
and amp modelers..... mighty applause to you my friend, you've got skill.
@liverawkstar Thank you for comment. I was informed Mark Shreeve actually
uses an Analogue Systems RS-290 V.C. Delay/Sampler for this to perform the
bit crushing. The Doepfer module is much cheaper and maybe the quality of
the AS module is better but this is good enough for me.
@attorks I was about to sell my A189-1 until I heard this excellent video
and read these comments. I love this bass sound and had always assumed it
was FM when listening to Red Shift. I will try to get something similar
from my system with the A189-1. Thanks for the patch idea!
@liverawkstar Thank you for the comment. I am not into drones or space
sounds. I cannot listen to it very long and it bores me. I also tend to
skip these sections on CD's with electronic music. I am more a melodic
oriented musician.
I am litterally falling out of my chair at the sound of this latest
masterwork of yours. This makes me want to have a classic Tangerine Dream
marathon this very second. Great piece, Martin!!! Keep up the great work,
like always.
Wow.... that is an amazing piece of electronic music. A truly original
work, and the title is very well chosen. Everything just works in this
piece, and the sequence is fantastic. Very well done!
Sorry Martin, but I just had to tell you again, how seriously awesome this
piece of music is. You made it into my all-time "Featured awesome"
playlist, in which you are in very good company.
Great piece Martin. Love the sequencing especially the bass sound. Really
raspy and raw. This kind of sounds like it has some of TD's Sorcerer
influence. Love it.
Nice.... just got myself a bit crusher, and yes, terrific stuff under cv
control. Is the 2nd keyboard down a Korg Karma by any chance? Thanks for
posting.
