Thank you for the music. Original African Yoruba; A language that I heard
very often, among Cubans of African origins. They played almost identical
sounds; Always religious: It meant a lot to the group, and I am actually
filled with emotion, listening now. I listened to Cuban music for four
decades. The African roots are so strong in Cuban music, that listening to
these songs, one can easily detect where the Cubans got their basic style,
originally, with the addition of the classic Spanish guitar, and
subsequently, everything else. And even the voices. Cuba and Jamaica, are
influenced totally, by this music, to this day.
Very moving music. It reflects happiness and pain and suffering and
euphoria; A very sensitive group. Yoruba is possibly a way of life. It
still survives in many countries since colonial days. Brazil, Cuba, Haiti,
contain pockets of the group. And even with the total separation, for
centuries, of the three groups, there are nearly identical rituals and
music, and dance; To this day.
i cant truthful contrict what you are saying about da music of Cuba,Brazil, Haiti, and most on the latin americas, but accord to scholars the other main influence in forming those musical traditions is the Congo(congolese).
+Dami RJ You STUPID Bitch. Judging by your awful writing its clear You Dont know shit about "History" Now get youre dumb ass on before I block You!!!!
The African East was less touched by the Atlantic slave trade (but was under Arabic and Indian influence) and thus became less disorganised by the constant slave wars, which might explain why countries like Kenya, Tanzania… seem to fare better today than West and Central African countries.
+MIKEY MELANIN MADE The main slave-trading empires in Western Africa were the Ashanti from modern-day Ghana, the Kayoor from modern-day Senegal and the Dahomey from modern-day Benin. Most people caught were from these and neighbouring countries, while many nations migrated away from those empires (like the Baule in Côte d'Ivoire) or were forced to build a military society to resist against them (like the Futa Jallon in Guinea and other “jihadist” States such as the Macina, Sokoto, etc. initially based on popular revolts against the slaver aristocracies).
+MIKEY BLACK African Americans came from many different peoples. The Congolese or Bantu, the Yoruba, the Fon, Dajome, Bantu.. on and on. Only now, is this history becoming available for most of us. DNA testing can narrow the focus of our specific ancestry. Reconnecting with the traditions of our people in the old country is incredibly important for young men like yourself. Great to see you connecting to your history.
