If your cat would not work properly anymore, what would that do on CO and
O2 emissions when you are checking an O2 sensor with gas emission tests?
Picturing myself the place of the O2 and what it's measuring (O2) and what
your gas tester is measuring (after the cat did it's magical hussle on the
gasses to CREATE the output you read). If the cat is left out due to a
defect and you would go for a gas test, could you have wrong assumptions on
how well an O2 is doing it's job? This would not be an actual false or lean
(since it is behind the sensor) but still makes the test obsolete.
Also in the last picture (bad airpump) you do state that after pinching the
hose, you have rich conditions (block learn and integrator below 128), as a
result of contaminated oil (extra fuel vapor entering combustion proces via
PCV I guess). How come there is still 1% O2 on emission, that would
indicate lean still, since 0% is stoiomatric? Or is this a catalic thing
and should you read O2 sensor for real condition only (my guess, always go
to the source, don't use reactions further down the line).
A basic instruction for replacing the crank position sensor,if your Saab has starting problems when the engine is hot.Remember to remove the old sealing ...
Is this crank position sensor the same as the Neutral Safety Sensor? On the
other hand, when the crank position sensor fails, does the starter motor
also fails? Sometimes I have a problem with the starter motor and need to
wait for about 15 minutes in order the motor cools down so the starter
motor works again. I´ll appreciate your comments. Thanks
No, its not like that, it will only cause no spark, the engine will still turn. When mine wouldnt start , I went to change the starter and found the wire loose on the starter, tightened it and its still working to this day
E36 M50 engine sensor problems
new coils nothing changed. 55k miles on the car. might be o2, crankshaft sensor or maybe even knock. vacuum gauge says no mechanical problem. air intake ...
@Mordaan Thanks, mine is doing something similar, but not that bad. I was
thinking that it could be one of these 2 sensors (cam/crank) but unsure, as
it could also be coils, lamba, temp sensor. I hate electronics. Anyway,
thanks for the vid, I'm now leaning towards the CPS.
@vibra77 yea it was the Crankshaft Position Sensor. I also changed the
Camshaft sensors. Then a few weeks later the Lambda Sensor/ TPS gave me a
bad idle. poor eletronics relatiblity I should say. Customers should revolt
and require military grade eletronics everywhere.
Error light will probably return to your dashboard after you drove another 200km (cca 130 miles). You should see your mechanic and consult with him. You'll probably have to replaced that sensor (and also timing belt - it's recommended ... well that I read on alfa romeo forums). I solved my errors (1177 & 1178). Soulution was cleaning MAF but that in your case won't work. Hope you find problem and fix it.
P0340 ,but after erasing the error.... when a sensor it`s broken then it should not work anymore even after that,so it must have been something else ;) but what ? did you solved your problem ?
Wich error number OBD tester showed you (example P1177 mixture 1 strength) ? ... Well hope that doesn't come back :) I'm currently having problem with P1177 & P1178 :S
yes,I did the test, erased the error and now the car is working just fine, without any error....strange huh ? I think that it can`t be the sensor,`cause once it`s broken it can`t be used anymore,so it must have been something else, maybe a problem with the ECU,i don`t know,i`m waiting to see what`s gonna hapend next :D
Did you connect OBD2 tester to find out what error code gives you? Yeah, if it's camshaft sensor, you'll have to change timing belt, V-Belt and all what is relate with that. That means a lot of € $.
