Fell flat on our face when trying to curl, did we?
Why Watch Curling? Ask a Canadian
The curling competition is underway at the Vancouver games. After hockey, curling is the most popular Olympic sport among Canadians and the event is ...
you ever try sweeping the ice in front of a curling stone for 46 meters, 60
times per game (max you play 3 games a day in a standard bonspiel)? don't
know about you but i get pretty dam tired, and with all due respect the
definition of a sport is: Any activity involving physical exertion and
skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken
competitively. so is Curling a sport? Your damn right it is, not only does
it challenge you mentally it also challenges you physically
hold on a second. You're saying that soccer is boring? Maybe football and
baseball are more interesting to watch, but soccer is definitely more fun
to play. But maybe it makes sense for you to have that opinion, you lazy
American, you're used to just sitting on your butt watching stuff on the
television and not actually doing anything. What's that? You play baseball?
You mean you sit and wait for your turn at bat, or you stand around in the
outfield. What's that? You play football? You mean...
If you are going to simplify the strategy of soccer to 'kicking the ball
back and forth'... baseball is just the same thing, over and over and
over... the pitcher throws the ball at the batter, who hits it or misses
it... over and over and over and over... until the end of the game.
Football: they line up, and rush eachother, while the guy at the back
throws the ball... over and over and over... the game lasts like four
hours, but there's only like 40 minutes or something of actual gameplay?
... that you make a bunch of 10-yard sprints, which aren't even long enough
to get to top speed. It's just so incredibly naive to assume that because
you and none of your family plays soccer, that it sucks. Of course, I'm
assuming stuff about you, but if I made mistakes that significantly
invalidate my arguments, please inform me. I've been to plenty of soccer,
football, and baseball games, and soccer is the best of the three. However,
basketball is a close contender, and if you play that...
" its not easy to throw straight " And yet the game is called CURL-ing.
DOH! Nice to hear your father is proud of you, it's so rare for a parent to
boast of their child's sporting success. You feel that you are a famous
sportsman, I don't need a link to your list sporting accolades. You offer a
comment on an international sport where you have proven that you don't
understand the basics of. How sportsmanlike of you. You can make an L shape
with your hand and hold it to yoru forehead now.
@samn100 @samn100 Your comment right above this would be one classic
example or irrelevant whining. I also described quite clearly, what I meant
by Americans, being US citizens. Again - "To keep you happy, I'll
reiterate: US citizens, living in America..." I understand that, as you
have also proven, many still can't read but that's beside the point. As for
ALL being humans, I'd challenge that too., There are many 'Americans' that
would have trouble battling wits with a house cat.
Why is american football so 'exciting' to some? Yes I like this sport also,
but to those who don't understand the rules of american football, it seems
like they play for 5 seconds and then just stand around for 3 minutes. the
action stops and starts, stops and starts etc.... Whatever is your
excitement, don't condemn others for their interests, because who the hell
are you? Don't be so arrogant to judge others who see the tactics, when you
can't. If people enjoy it then ok!
@samn100 - VERY weak. Any American I know would not accept that; they feel
they are unique and independent from others where they originated. In fact
I find most take extreme offense to not being deemed American (as in a
citizen actually born in the USA). To keep you happy, I'll reiterate: US
citizens, living in America, that are descendants of people who are from
other parts of the world. Is that better or are you going to whine about
something else irrelevant now? .
I don't see why people keep insulting this sport/game, whatever you want to
call it. Not everyone likes soccer, football, iceskating, or horseback
riding... everyone has a right to their own opinon and own likings. Id much
rather watch this than football, and my husband is a huge football fan.
Though it's not something I would DVR/TIVO lol. @ MaikUniversum - that was
the most ignorant, insulting comment on here. I mean really, come on...
It's a pretty damn hard game to play too, as witnessed by the Canadian
Olympic hocky team when they took on the curling team. Mind you, "even
lamer to watch", illustrates you as an armchair sportsman anyway, now I'm
sure that YOU would be lame to watch too. Drinking light beer and staining
your fingers orange with a bag of Cheetos while your mom scrubs the skids
out of your boxers.
@samn100 OMG, so your entire tirade is just the whining rants of someone
who isn't even American? a host of emails in my junk inbox, stupid,
irrelevant comments and the lot. What a waste of time you are. You can lay
down and cry by yoursef now, you're just not worth it....and stop proving
you are a foo by posting more irrelevant BS and firing emails at my cheeze
account.,
Considering that only northern states have curling clubs because the fact
that half the united states doesn't experiance true winter might have
soething to do with that. there are days I wonder why Carolina, Florida,
Texas, Arizona, and California even have hockey teams. As the old joke goes
why does Minnesota exist, to keep canada from invading Iowa
@ozmedia If you think that is whining then you never heard whining or read
whining before. This is youtube. If you want to have a intellectual
discussion or whine fest go invite your friends to a tea party so u can
chat without what you call whining. And talking about this subject is
irrelevant to this video. I will throw curling stones at you :D
