5:12?
It reminds me of some of the towns I saw along the Romantic Road in the summer of 1979. I was introduced to German music by my Piano Teacher - Irma Bley. She attended the Munich Academy of Music during WW2. As a woman it was easier for her to be accepted to the academy during that period. She saw Hitler when he visited the Academy. She and her husband came to California in the early 1950's with two small children. I had to audition to have her accept me. She taught me to play Mozart, Beethoven, Weber, Schumann, and Bach during 4 years of weekly lessons while I was in high school. I have heard concerts and recordings by many famous pianist. Frau Bley's performances of compositions by her contemporaries at the academy were among the most spectacular. She also taught me how to cook Sauerbraten. She convinced me that Germans were amazingly talented people although I suppose she might be exceptional even in Germany. Later in college I joined the choir and sang Bach Cantatas in German. I had no idea what the lyrics meant until I lived in Germany 15 years later for 6 months. Of course I love German Lieder. Bryn Terfel and Elizabeth Schwarzkopf have been among my favorites lieder singers. I am sure you could recommend others. What did you study in Marburg ?
+Virginia Fitzpatrick Yes, I studied there in these narrow streets and old buildings, covered with greenery. And it was there that I learned why so many German romantic songs were overflowing with praises of spring and nature.
YAY! I'm one of the heads in the front, this song was the nights highlight
& my camera didn't record the end of the song.. I'm so happy to see it
again. What an intense performance. You said you're gonna come back to
marburg, I won't forget that ;)
Hi Stephan, Cheers!
It's nice to have you making videos again; it's been quite some time since
the daily vlogs. Your best friend always looks so lovely on camera.
This was a nice video (you used the better quality camera; held the camera
stable so it had time to focus).
I liked how you did the audio for this vlog. The audio levels between
talking and music were consistent; no jarring moments where the music was
loud and your voice quiet.
I know you've been using music more often in your videos; I think it is
part of your effort for higher quality videos. Remember though, sometimes
the music distracts the viewer from being immersed in the video. Vlogs are
kind of a window into moments of your life and sometimes it is nice to hear
the wind and background noise when you're just walking down a street;
walking through the town square. Please use music sparingly and carefully,
but this video was a good balance of music and natural sounds.
Anyhow, I look forward to your future videos.
Best Wishes,
Christian
