Just like belairdirect simplifies your insurance, we simplify life at the cottage by building planter boxes out of fence boards. Turning your cottage into the ultimate ...
You know the difference between us Brits and you Americans its the way we
say "herbs" you say "erbs" and we say "herbs" because there's a fucking 'H'
in it
Except now Bel-Air has two people (and God knows how many people reading this little exchange) talking about Bel-Air Insurance. YouTube advertising is a heckuva lot cheaper than TV. Cottage Life is Canada based and so is Bel-Air. Makes sense to me.
+Scott Taylor I'm saying it's pointless for bel-air, with such a broad audience on YouTube, the ad might just be a waist of their time, but I don't know
+Karol Bała Ha! It's not pointless to Bell-Air Direct apparently. Cottage Life doesn't pick and choose who their sponsors are, they take whatever money is given to them.
DIY: Cedar Garden Planter Box
//www.simplyeasydiy.com/2014/10/diy-garden-planter-box.html Here is a do it yourself cedar garden planter box. Yes, it can be used as a flower box as well.
+Evenflows1 Honestly I can't remember. Might have been and I fixed it when I realized. I don't bog videos down with stuff like that unless i can make a funny out of it.
+Themar KM Thank you. Yes they were very excited. I allow them to grow whatever they want in their planter. One is growing celery now and the other two are growing flowers.
Stan just found you on YT. Subscribed and checked out your videos, very
nice. Nice simple stuff that anyone can follow and hopefully achieve a good
job.
Thanks.
+Barry Norman Welcome to the community my friend. Thanks.
Build a cheap and easy wooden planter box
A detailed 15 minute video of building a wood planter box found on gardenersworld.com. Followed by a 10 minute talk about buying your first tool or tools that ...
+edwards edwards Unfortunately that's what my wife's cats do, but only this time of the year when there's no herbs in it anymore. So I cover it with chicken wire. Not good to eat food grown in earth where cats/dogs do their business in :(
+Andy Antoniou if you use an engineering square on each step you will have no problems. All i need to do is fill it up but my cats for some reason sleep in it. Got a funny feeling when i do fill it up they are going to wee and crap in it.
+edwards edwards £3 a meter is a lot! You could get an exotic wood for that! I used to use the local DIY shop for wood, but they over charge and their wood was usually low quality. I found a local lumber yard, they are much cheaper so I get everything from there now. I pay about £1 a meter for a 2by4 but untreated so your price sounds good!Hope the weather clears up and you manage to build it!
+Andy Antoniou i went to Jewsons and they quoted me £3 meter for normal 2by2 l. I found a place where i live and got treated 2by2 for a £1 a metre, result. Weather has been bad waiting for the weather to clear up
+handsomethecat Wood prices vary from place to place and what kind of wood you use. You could always look for woods that are good for outside use, then you wouldn't need to stain it either. Like Padauk, Azobe, Cedar, Bankirai etc
How do I make the beds if they are not square? Do I need to do anything
different? the space for my garden bed is 18" width on one end and 42"
width at the other end. Thanks
+TheDarkpassenger23 I think that would make a totally different design. You could always use some scrap wood like pallets and lay the first row down to see how you would build up from there. Same for the middle piece.
I actually grew to like my last planter box, but not enough to throw me off my original plan. So I gave it another shot and was able to nail it this time.
Us YouTubers chat with one another on the backend of things here. : ) So we are all friendly with one another. I'm a big fan of DiResta's work and he was kind enough to send me a pencil.
what is your take on the wind blowing it over, and also , i noticed you
don't wear a face mask, when your cutting on your table saw, it's the fine
dust that, harms your lungs, i bought a 3m 7500 series face mask, for
protection, i build houses , and have been doing it for about 30 years,
also in my wood shop, there is alot of fine dust, so please buy yourself a
mask like i mentioned, your lungs will thank you for it. and oh, happy
wood working, it is so awesome that you injoy it, so much..
I know it looks like it's very easy to knock over, but it's been on my porch since this video went up and it hasn't blown over once. Maybe if it were out in the open then you might have to weight down the bottom. Cheers.
Pallet Planter Box DIY
This is a simple step-by-step instructional video for building a pallet planter box. Very easy to follow. To find free pallets, head to your local Used.ca website here: ...
Hey there! Have you considered - Bikino Coop Mastery (do a search on
google)? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend got cool
results with it.
+twoweary Before my next project now, or when I made this one 2 1/2 years ago? You can watch my push stick video here. https://youtu.be/0eJJ1tuGeeE Thanks for watching!
Nice build, it came out great.
I'm also very interested in your workbench. It looks like a nice, simple
design and I really like the sunken tool area to keep tools handy for
whatever you are working on at the time. Where can I find the plans for it?
+helen thornton Mitre saw = $149, table saw = $165, router table with router = $175, and drill = $35. Total cost = less then $600. I bought all the tools over about a year and half time frame. It all just depends on how much you want to do it.
+Demosthanes locke It's great! It does everything that I need it to do. It's lightweight but still has the metal top. I bought one with a coated particle board top and didn't like it.
How long has it been since you put it into use? Is it holding up well? What
I'm getting at is how long will the bottom boards w/out any actual drainage
holes last before they need to be replaced?
+Alexis Rocha I've been using it for a couple of years now with no issues. It leaks like a sieve. Water drains from the front, back, and sides. Very little of the water even makes it to the bottom.
Nice project but you are living dangerously. You should never let go of a
board that is in contact with the blade; Always a danger of kickback and
when it happens, you will not be able to react.
+FunWithWoodworking I once witnessed a neighbor ripping a 2x4. The kickback shot the board across the garage and stuck it in the wall. I don't know how it missed him but the incident gave me a healthy respect for the power of the tools.
Could you tell me whats the tooth count on your miter saw, I just picked up
that Hitachi and need another blade with more teeth than what comes with
the saw. Great video BTW...
+Mark Russell Thanks! When I made this project I was using the blade that came with the saw. I am now using an 80 tooth crosscut blade and am very happy with it.
