2008 Saturn Astra XR The Astra comes with a 1.8L DOHC 4 Cyl thats good for 138 HP. Sadly it's paired to a 4 speed auto but there is a 5 speed manual ...
I have a 2008 Xr salsa red ,it is a nice car , fast handles corners like no
other. My one issue is it needs a six gear , the engine revs really high in
fifth gear . The radio volume is to sensitive . Parts are hela expensive no
after market parts. Its a good car other wise
+alpha bitmap unfortunately no they are yall gone think. because it's a GM brand any one could service it, the down side is the cost of repairs. Good luck
+Gustavo Kennedy Since there obviously aren't any Saturn dealerships left, is there any other dealer to take it to that knows what they're doing when something goes wrong?
WOW, racist much? What a typical, small minded, egotistical American prick.
I agree with bluebus270. No wonder everyone else hates you guys. I wouldn't
pride yourselves in your superior knowledge either. You get mocked all
around the world for your stupidity. You people are so self centered I
almost pity how much you all embarrass yourselves. I went to New York and
some idiot Yank thought Calgary was in Toronto. You people are so ignorant
to the geography around you. NO, Vancouver and Toronto...
its a great ca its the best selling car in United kingdom we call it the
vauxhal astra its very good car. you in for a shock america your prob never
has such a well built, well handeled car in a long time becuase you make
really crap cars no offence i like them but everyone critis them i like the
buick lercern good car had it for hired wen went to florida bad fuel
econemy thou but good. wouldnt do very well in U>K thou crap build i could
pull everything apart not good
you must be kiding me FRENCH cars are just as crap as american cars realli
they are rubish but over the years they are slowly improving bt you never
know you mite start getting some european cars soon you need some small
cars out there wen i went there i never saw any small cars i saw a chevy
one out there we call it the kalos i dnt know wat you call it bt thatys
crap lol like we have the vauxhall corsa which is im not actualli kiding
you the best lookin car there is
they always have something wrong with them they always break dwn and they
always have horrible interiors.yh we have had the smart fortwo for ages. we
have onli just started getting some american cars that we never had ere
before like dogde and they always have bad write ups bt i dnt mind them the
new version of chrysler vodger.you call it the town nd country and also we
will be getting the new dogde version of it aswell i think you call it the
grand caravan
yh i know i dnt realli like them that much either, there just dole cars to
be honest the onli chrysler i like is the 300c bt thats it the chrysler
done realli bad in the crash test over ere onli got one star out of five so
bad and its the same with the pt cruiser that onli got 3/5 not the best for
safty. goin bk to french cars the onli thing there good at is the safty
there cars always get the highest and are always the safest.
A pitty they didn't put the CDTI engines in the Saturn Astra. 120 or 150hp
versions. They do have 6 speed gear boxes, they are faster and they have a
lot more torque. This the 120hp version is as fast as the 1.8ecotec and the
150cdti will blow it of the road. Their fuel efficiency is much better too.
But they are diesel. Check out the opel astra cdti 120 or 150.
The interior is so bland. Just grey everywhere. Not much imagination. Too
many little round buttons on the center stack.Whats up with the Gas gauge
flanked by only a tach and Speedo. Man that looks cheap. The only good thing
is the motor.I thought those childseat anchors where for hang grocery bags.
that's needs big attension.Better off buying Hyundai !!!
Nobody, but nobody likes you lot as a race, but you're jealous to death of
us Brits. Its really funny. If you think you have the best college system
in the world, then you've answered your own question - you ARE as dumb as
fuck. You sound 14, immature, and tend to wank a lot and live with your
mum. What a prick. Now do one and leave me alone you weirdo.
yh i know wat you mean i dnt understand y you dnt do it oh well bt im
tellin you i dnt know if they do the vxr out there model which has about a
240ps which is realli good. bt you wouldnt be let dwn by the car it is a
gr8 car far better than alot of american cars. or as you said would be
better of with volkswagen or mazda
are NOT the only cities in Canada. And I highly doubt you could even point
to Britain on a map, never mind Uganda. Do you know how many videos are
circulating the internet based n the stupidity of Americans? Far too many
than I'd ever care to be proud of, if I were you (which, thank GOD I'm not).
you obviously didn't spend your teen years beating the crap out of
dilapidated fwd cars with all sorts of fun alignment/general mechanical
problems. 1988 9000 turbo with broken front swaybar mounts...now there's
some understeer. and it's "catastrophic"
Interesting to see minor changes from the Vauxhall - rear bumper, interior,
badging. But like the Vauxhall does it suffer from leaking tyres, appalling
fuel consumption and dodgy key transponder? By the way, Americans really
are thick aren't they?
yh thats true its realli exspensive ere like £1.05 something like that just
realli exspensive. yh surpose it isnt that powerful but we would go for the
1.9cdti the diesel which is powerful along with economical its a gr8 car
@kyuzh987 if you can find one yes. They brought this car over right before
Saturn died off. I've seen 1 saturn astra 3 door since they have been
brought over. I havent even seem them at dealerships or even for sale on
ebay
this is a common car in the UK. they have been out a few years . They are
very reliable, cheap to run. There is the "vxr" version here which is 240
bhp, if you want fast. The turbo diesels are the best overall
just bought mine today. the 3dr xr is pretty sweet car guys. Went from an
audi a6 to this and so far dont regret it :P next step i'm gonna debadge
the saturn off and put on the opel :D
you're makng a big mistake by generalising all americans ... the ideas that
exist in the world of 'the average american' are created by the media and
has noth much t do with reality
Vauxhall Astra / Opel Astra / Chevy Vectra GT / Saturn Astra / Holden Astra
= Same car for example, I live in Argentina and this car is known as Chevy
Vectra GT here.
its sluggish at the start, but it is still pretty quick. i have the 5sp xr
and love it. i debadged it and put the opel grille on = everyone checking
out the car
Hi Twat. Two words - "Bush" and "George". And like i said you're all thick,
hated all over the planet, aggressive and quite fat too.
2008 Saturn Astra 3-Door Tour of Interior and Exterior
Here is a Tour of My 2008 Saturn Astra XR 3-Door. I give a full tour of the interior and exterior. Props go out to Saabkyle04 for being the jolt in my brain to go out ...
I've been driving a lot with a company cars like VW Golf 6 Variant, Touran
hell...even PHAETON (but 2006) - they are really nice. Now i just bought me
my first car for hard earned money....the 2009 ASTRA H GTC Edition Plus and
I LOVE THIS CAR!!! Your astra looks beutiful in that color - CONGRATS
mate!!!
@MysticGon The standard maintenance I've put in to it has cost about the
same as any other GM. Any parts we don't already here in the states would
cost more to be imported but so far for the 30k miles that are on it now it
has been problem free!
I definitely recommend it. Mine has been really reliable and you can find
them with low miles for a really good price. I would recommend getting it
with a manual transmission. The automatic makes it feel really sluggish.
nice car but i guess this was the only gm car in its year to not have aux
input. also, there should've been a package where you could put the old
opel badges on. they did it with the sprinter back then.
@keithwellens I know that's what I love about my car! No matter where in
the world you bought it, it had the same styling! The only thing I wish
they would've given us over here is a turbo!!!
Yes I still own the car and after 40,000 miles of mostly hard driving i've
only had to replace the a.c. compressor. It's a fun little car and I would
recommend it to anyone.
An authentic carbuzzard.com RoadSkill report on the 2008 Saturn Astra 5-door XR, a video new car review complementing written reviews at carbuzzard.com, ...
As to relative driving skills, I've driven on both sides of the pond, and
while Americans in general aren't as good on winding roads--though I've
seen a big UPS truck hustled down a winding road like you wouldn't believe,
you haven't lived until you've done 80 mph door-handle-to-door-handle on
I-80 west of New York during rush hour--only to have to come to suddenly
come to an abrupt halt. Different skills for different venues, my friend.
That was a fine review. I own the 2008 Astra XE manual and everyone that I
have allowed to drive my car loves it. This includes people who are used to
driving Mercedes and BMW's among other imports. That speaks volumes to me
as a customer. The only thing I would like to see is the 6th gear! Aside
from that, it is a solid tank like vehicle and loves those turns and stops!
Jason and family.
I believe that the UK gets the 6-sp because there aren't enough to go
around, so one market gets and another doesn't. Because relatively speaking
the Astra is more down market in the US than in the UK, expectations are
lower in a low-price car and that's what the buyer here gets.
best overall handling? ur wrong there, there are lots of hatchbacks that
handle way better, but if u want the real sporty version u need the OPC or
whatever u call it in the states, with 240HP. but still, it's an old
peoples car this, like most opels/vauxhalls/saturns
the Astra is pricey because when gm decided to import it from belgium the
dollar to euro exchange rate was ok. But the dollar fell, making the car
more expensive, but i agree with you that it is a pretty luxury type car. i
think gm losses money on each one sold.
what gear was he in, sounded like 3rd. no wonder they only got 20mpg. i
drove the opel version with the 1.8 with 125hp. it was pretty decent
actually. topspeed was approximatly 125mph and fuel consuption slightly
better than 30mpg.
I don't see why it's neccesary at all to have an engine any larger than a
1.8 in a car this size. Over here, the engines begin with a 1.3 75hp
diesel, with the 1.7diesel or 1.6 petrol probably being the most popular.
circutracer150 you're wrong. Since the 80's Vauxhall models are right-hand
drive derivatives of GM's Opel brand. And the performance vehicles coming
from Opel Performance Center (OPC), and Holden Special Vehicles.
Its not from Opel.... its from Vauxhall... and those fuckers get the 2
litre turbo motor with 240 BHP!!!!!! Still, cool little hatch with lots of
tuning potential. I am buying one!
