in this video i give a tour of a vauxhall astra estate,1.7cdti eco-flex. i show the exterior styling all round and i also give a view of the interior. UPDATE 11/05/2011: ...
@BONG475 cont. on £10 diesel you shold expect to get around 45 mile, this
is because the engine components will be tight and will gradually loosen up
(called running in), once ran in you should expect to get the figure
mentioned before. also you ma get a code come up to do with the diesel
particulate filter), dont worry though all you need to do is drive keeping
the rev range above 2k rpm untill the code goes away. hope this helps, any
more q's fire away n ill try n help.
@BONG475 normal city driving (i.e 30-40mph) you would be doing roughly
1250-1500rpm,i have found that around 170rpm is the most econimical rev
range. as to estates using moere fuel, this really depends on how much
weight you have in the the car. obviously estates carry more so therefore
mor. estates simply offer more room in the boot etc, therefore more wight
in the car etc. take no notice of the shift light, tends to ask you to
shift early and make the engine labour.
@BONG475 your very welcome, yes that is the model i have. very good car
indeed, one other point worth mentioning, sometimes the handbrake doesent
apply propperly so you need to make sure it has, you should here the motor
(when there is no other noise) and feel the brake pedal go down a bit
further. this can be rectified upon speeking to your dealer. overall though
i give the car a 9/10. best of luck with your car. regards chris
@cardoctor2k9 yes thank's alot for that information, this car being an
estate will consume more fuel than a normal 5 door astra?, and i have just
bought an astra 1.7 diesel the 125bhp version and that is why i asked this
question. and just to ask again local normal driving keeping the rev's
below 3rpm. on 10 pound diesel would give me atleast 60 miles?
Thanks alot for your information the model i am getting is the 1.7cdti
ecoflex range, and the combined figure is i think roughly 65mpg, and i was
aware of the diesel particulate filter issue, every so often the light
comes up and u keep high rpm's so it can burn away the particulates?. so in
my mind i had roughly 75 miles to £10 of diesel
from £10 of diesel which at the moment seems to be just over a gallon i can
get approx. 50-100 miles, all depending on the conditions etc and how its
driven. since making this video i have been getting more often then not
45mpg. hope this helps and thanks for watching.
As far as im aware they drive the same, obviously with weight in it wont
return the same kind of figures as the estate. Average mpg for me was
45-50mpg thats a mixture of town and motorway driving. Hope this helps.
you say you are getting 38mph, how many miles does your car get out of 10
pounds worth of diesel mate?
