When my sister and I were little girls this was pretty much our trademark song...we would sing it over and over and then, perform for our family...When we went to ...
The refrain/chorus of this song was (probably unconsciously) plagiarized
from Chico Marx's "I'm Daffy Over You," which he played in "Animal
Crackers" (1930) as can be seen in the YouTube clip at v=zeRmxVMpGvo . A
guitar version can be heard at v=lmV1GlilXU4
This was played in my childhood too, as sugar in cereals were thought of as
bad, and things changed to fake chemicals... When Sugar Smacks went to
Honey Smacks and when Sugar Coated Cereal went to Frosted Cereal...
The McGuire Sisters' version of Sugartime, a song written by Charlie Phillips and Odis Echols, topped the charts in February of 1958. A classic of popular music, ...
I was driving my 1960 chevy just the other day, cruising along effortlessly
with the sweet burble of the 283 humming along and the smell of unburned
hydrocarbons entering my nostrils. The radio in this car has not worked for
probably 40 years, yet for some reason, i was tempted to turn the dial.
Once the tubes warmed up, this is the song that poured out from a faint AM
signal broadcasting out of nowhere. For a few fleeting moments, it was 1960
again, and just as quickly as it had come, it was yet again gone, lost in
the grainy static of life. Folks, we have lost something great in America.
+Josh Nixon I have 1950's music coming out of my phone going right into my 2002 car's stereo, its the 1950s all the time for me.Which is not really doable with your car's radio, however...If you can find one of those car stereo transmitters that will work on the AM band you could plug your phone into it.
I do Connor but this song was released in 1958. A year / time that our (grand) parents could listen to this kind of lovely music. People were so mutch more decent here in the Netherlands / Europe.

Sugababes original, oh yeah? The music's from Tubeway Army and Gary Newman
"Are Friends Electric" & the lyrics from Adina Howards with "Freak Like
me".. Just sayin'..
Yeah, but when Numan's original came out in 1979, the music press had a go at him for (they said) ripping off Bowie and Kraftwerk. So people are always borrowing ideas from others. And Numan went on the record to say he loved this version...
this is why i loved the Sugababes, for taking chances! Great video and
banging' tune.
I grew up on SPICE became an All Saint as a teen (I was 13 when the beach
came out, i didn't stand a chance) then Sugagbabes emerged and this tune
opened up the doors to my moms music (Gary Numan) and mine could exist
together! My favourite after Overload and Stronger
+psycho0550 very true so many remakes "show me love robin s" "Chaka khan ain't nobody" and the list goes on. Wow I never saw this as the starting point for what is music now. Great observation
