I thought John was your name , you definitely said in one of video's
"people say to me JOHN" ,and from that point on I have called you John. And
I don't follow the Dinar forums , news , talk shows , I only come here for
the up to the minute news , so I really do not know when it will be or how
much it will be (rate), I only go on your opinion , and you say that it
will be soon (so I love you) and I had my 20.000.000 Dinar on the market on
Ebay until you told me that it will RV this year, then I took it off, (so I
love you), I had said I have had Dinar since 2006 so I may as well hold out
for another year , I have lasted this long so what the heck , sorry if I
got your name wrong 365.
Yes - likewise! I remember Michael Staniforth making an appearance on Blue
Peter, in which he revealed his flair for roller-skating, having just
landed a part in the then new Lloyd Webber musical "Starlight Express".
Stripped of his motley, there was still something decidely "not right"
about him - as my less than liberal father never missed an opportunity of
pointing out whenever got in from work early and found me watching
"Rentaghost".
RIP Michael Staniforth (Timothy Claypole) who wrote, composed and sang this
theme! An excellent tribute would be to use this theme or a slightly
reworked one in the new series of Rentaghost.... But to make me sound old
the new series will never be as good as the original! Mainly cos I'm not a
kid anymore...but I will watch!! :)
Rentaghost was good when it first started, when they had Fred Mumford, the
ghost from Southsea, whose parents didn't know he was dead so he had to
throw his dinner out of the window (very amusing if you think about it) but
once it was just Claypole and the bloody McWitch.....yawn...Crap.
Kids programmes between the 70s and 90s were fun and didn't treat kids like
they were stupid. The introduction of things like Teletubbies started the
downfall and drivel for kids, which I feel there is no turning back from.
The only modern diamond in the rough is Horrible Histories.
You're right... when originally there were 3 ghosts - Mumford, Claypole and
an older guy with the next door neighbor that looked like Peter
Sutcliffe... but by the time Molly Weir and Audrey from Corrie turned up I
grew out of it.. thank god
Both the actors in this video have now died, can't remember her name, but
the Scottish actress who played McWitch died less than two years ago and
Timothy Claypole is no more. He sadly passed away from AIDS related
pneumonia.
Yes he died of an AIDS related disease in the 80s,the other two orginal
ghorsts are no longer with us now. Lynda La Plante was the orginal Miss
Popov before she left and Corrie's Sue Nichols joined as her cousin.
you can't beat rentaghost just a great show that encapsulates time.what a
wonderful show and thoughtful memories of the three original cast who have
now become ghosts themselves.
lol classics i loved this when come home from school turn on tv watch
rentaghost worzal gummidge and all the other classics lol damn feel old
when watching these thks for sharing
Four channels ? Luxury ! When I were a youg'un we only ever had three
channels ! And when we got home from t'mill, our Da would make us watch
Play for the Day on BBC2 ...etc...
@elafonisi08 Joanna Froggatt who was in Coronation Street for a time loved
this show as well. The first time she saw Sue Nicholls on set all she could
think was 'Miss Popov!!"
no one make great shows like anymore good proper enterainmant in the days
we just had 4 channnels well in the 80s at least both BBC & ITV produced
great stuff like this
Used to love this. "Don't go down to the cellar" was a gag they used to end
the episodes on, and usually they did go down and got torched by the
dragon!! Hilarious!!
Oh wow this is so great even though vI will spend the rest of the day
humming or maybe even singing the theme tune, but I don't care. Thanks for
the nostalgia trip.
You're quite right. It is Michael Staniforth. With his talent of roller
skating, he later went on to Starlight Express. Where he played the
character of C.B.
She was! She played "Nadia Popov", a Russian Ghost who popped off every
time she sneezed! She had a Ghost cousin too played by no less than Lynda
La Plante!
This comment is for webbhead92. The girl who played her was called
Charlotte Coleman who appeared also in Worzel Gummidge. She died at a very
young age.
Not sure there's much in my childhood memories of TV that tops this.
Knightmare possibly?... Rentaghost rocked. We should have it re-ruined I
reckon :)
@Guitar7mark Funnily enough Joanne Froggatt was a Rentaghost fan so she
could only see Audrey Nicholls as Miss Popov when she joined the cast of
Corrie
I think i'm right in saying that Richard Carpenter wrote the series after
writing the excellent Catweazle starring the late great Geoffery Bayldon.
