How is yoga Hindu, when Hindu is a foreign word used to describe the people
of India. Yoga is Indian not Hindu just like Microsoft is American not
Christian and Samsung is Korean not Buddhist.
The origins of yoga have been speculated to date back to pre-Vedic Indian traditions, is mentioned in the Rigveda,[note 1] but most likely developed around the sixth and fifth centuries BCE, in ancient India's ascetic and śramaṇa movements.[8][note 2] The chronology of earliest texts describing yoga-practices is unclear, varyingly credited to Hindu Upanishads[9] and Buddhist Pāli Canon,[10] probably of third century BCE or later. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali date from the first half of the 1st millennium CE,[11][12] but only gained prominence in the West in the 20th century.[13] Hatha yoga texts emerged around the 11th century with origins in tantra.[14][15]Yoga gurus from India later introduced yoga to the west,[16] following the success of Swami Vivekananda in the late 19th and early 20th century.[16] In the 1980s, yoga became popular as a system of physical exercise across the Western world.[
now that i know ur views, i can only concur with u, but as Hinduism is inappropriate term according to u, then yes ur views make sense, but given that hinduism is a accepted term around the world n in india as a religion rather than culture, then i would say u cannot take yoga away from its parent philosophy, right in general world view
+charan chand No, I am not questioning the credibility of Hinduism. For me Hinduism is the only culture(not religion) that does not bind humans to stupidities. It is the most organic culture present today. The best part about it is that being a culture it is open to debate and change with time.I know the term Hinduš was used by persians to define the people and culture of the population living on the other side of river Sindhu just like the Greeks used the word Indos. Why did the term Hindu became religious while India became non-religious? Isn't it wrong?Since the world views Hinduism as a religion and puts it on the same platter as Christianity, Islam I don't want to associate Yoga:a product of Indian culture with a religion. That is why I say lets promote Yoga as Indian not Hindu!I hope I am able to explain myself. What do you think?
in that case ur questioning the very credibility of the term hinduism not that whether yoga is hindu or not, well i will put it like this, "The various forms of Yoga were indoctrinated with principle of various ways of life by spiritual stalwarts of the indian subcontinent with the aim of providing best solutions for a better way of life for whoever followed with the best of intentions to do good to all of humanity, you may call those principles as part of ancient indian life or hinduism, i dont have a problem with that, the ancient indians never segregated themselves from others but rather assimilated other cultures n ways of life, so when people from other parts of the world came in contact with indian subcontinent, they came up with the terms like hinduism ,by the way i would like to know , who is a hindu in ur view seeing that i am unable to concur with u? could u pls elaborate on this
+charan chand You see, what you have mentioned is various forms of yoga. I want to know how is Yoga Hindu? Did the inventors of Yoga invented it for Hindus.Did they even called themselves Hindu? Did they say, to be a true Hindu one needs to practice Yoga? If not, then how is Yoga Hindu?
+Brij ray well for instance, take karma yoga (where u work for work sake but not expect any returns), jnana yoga (where u strive to realise the knowledge of the absolute truth which is different from relative truth through introspection of our mind by meditation) , bhakti yoga (where u attain salvation through ur devotion of God), n finally raja yoga which contain 8 steps to follow to conquer our internal nature in which the 3rd step has the physical asanas which everyone see normally as "the yoga", n then finally there is hatha yoga which as extensive physical exercises n patterns n processes in which a man following this is said to have increased longevity of their life (like 200 years , rishis of the himalayas are said to follow this n this form is very restricted n taught to few worthy only, though I doubt they r any left now). but let me tell u , I am not a expert in yoga philosophy, all I said is the mainstream knowledge I am exposed to through my family n relatives , so if ur interested in knowing more on yoga or even following it , u should take the guidance of masters.
+charan chand Please can you mention and elaborate the principals of Sanatan Dharma (Hinduism) you think, are incorporated in Yoga which makes it Hindu? I would like to know to improve my knowledge.
well bcoz Microsoft n Samsung do not have Christian n Buddhist principles incorporated in them , but in yoga (by yoga I mean whole of yoga , just not its physical aspects like asanas) the principles of sanatan dharma (hinduism) are incorporated, hence the friction, but if yoga for u means just the asanas , then as u said it is indian but not hindu
Hello! I find your videos really informative, and I keep looking forward
for your videos! However, I have a video request...would please try to
consider? I know that Aryans were nomadic tribes who came to India from
central Asia and the Dravidians, (I'm not that sure..but) From the Indus
valley Civilization... I just wanted to know....if different races are
immigrants from different places, who were the ones who were originally
Indian residents? Thankyou so much!
the aryan invasion theory has been proved a bluff of the British colonisation long time ago, they made this theory to justify their atrocities as civilising the lower race of Indians, there is no such thing as aryan race n dravidian race. genetic studies conducted in 2006 revealed that there has been no great genetic influx in indian gene pool for the last 10000 years, n there r many more proofs which u just search in youtube itself.
