Building a silent air compressor out of salvaged parts including an old refrigeration compressor, recovery tank, pressure control, salvaged regulator, and other ...
So, how many CFM at what PSI? I have a 3hp compressor now and plan to build
a 5 hp as soon as I decide where to put an 80 gallon tank. I figure this
kind of project is basically worthless for any need I have for an air
compressor.
ah ha, I see. I would have thought the mixture (almost pure methane) would have been too rich to ignite but I'll take your word and keep my vision. Thanks. PS - could you suggest any other type of pump I could use or even investigate for compressing bio gas?
+Uncle Reeko Windings inside are not sealed. They are open to the path the gas takes. One spark or overheat and you'll have no eyebrows left if you're lucky.

How to Change the Piston parts on a Craftsman Compressor
This is my Craftsman compressor that needed the piston cylinder and ring changed. It basically would not pump pressure higher than 40psi and the repair guy ...
@manmadeofCO2 I got the kit from my local Air Compressor repair shop in Van
Nuys California. I think it was between $25-$40 for the parts package. The
problem with getting it is that most places will need to actually see your
compressor to match the repair kit. And they told me how simple it was to
repair so i could save on their labor to install it...which would have been
another $45 bucks. That's why i made the video
I have a 4HP motor i got off of craigslist. with a 20-25 gallon tank i
believe. person told me motor had issues. it worked for two days then
stopped. when i turn it on i get like a humming sound but nothing. just
took it apart. piston for the most part looks fine, but it doesn't seem to
move about well when i hand crank it. so could it be the piston that's
being the problem or something else?
it sounds as if maybe your motor is seized. The piston pumps the air into
the take, but if you are only getting a hum...and no movement. sounds like
the motor itself went out on you. Possible find a local compressor shop to
diagnose it to see if it is worth fixing. my Crafsman cost me $200 back in
the day ...so spending less than $30 bucks to change the piston was worth
it.
@fanaticofutube All American Air Compressor on Kester in Van Nuys near
Oxnard St. If you bring your Compressor with you when you go there..they
can maybe figure out which one you need. They don't have a book to give
them a part number... but the guys there know which is needed just by
looking at it.
What is the name of the repair shop? I'm also in Cali and Van Nuys isn't
really that far. I may possibly need a kit since my pressure also wont past
40 PSI. Please let me know Great video
