Great break down of the carbs, talking about bugs and things that tend to
end up living in abandoned motorcycles, there is a tube vid on here
somewhere where a guy stripped a top block and found a complete wasps nest
in the engine lol
+GTs Garage HAH! That's crazy! Post the link if you find it. I just borrowed a bore-scope from a friend to check the head and cylinder... and I found more critters in there. That video should be up this weekend.

Get To Know Your ATV / Motorcycle Carburetor Pt. 2
Ok first of all your (switch) is called a needle valve, and there is no
spring that holds it, it just sits there. Next thing the little jet is used
to start the engine. And you asked if the collar needed to be adjusted for
your idle? You have to adjust your idle screw, if it is idling too fast
turn the screw (counter clock wise) it will slow it down. Just thought I
would help you out for your next video.
my brothers atv is a 1999 yamaha beartracker and it has a problem that it
has a hard time getting up to high rpm's and it has a really hard time
climbing hills and I think its in the carb the spark plug is all black and
the needle on the slider with the diaphram is down the whole way so it
should be blocking most the gas but the plug is still black what do i do??
so today i was inspecting my atv and i took off the lid to my air filter
and when i looked in it was sitting on the bottom :( i have ridden at least
3 times before noticing this but i haven't been going through many dusty
areas because it is still very wet where i am from. what maintenance should
i do to make shur my bike is safe ?
I have suspected plugged jets from the behavior of my bike. Your
description of using the choke as a mixture adjustment was spot on for my
situation. I am pretty sure this is indeed my problem. Thanks for the great
video.
CAN ANY ONE HELP ME. I GOT A 2 Stroke 90cc Dinli BEAST 7.7 horse power. IT
STARTS AND RUNS BUT WEN I HIT THE THROTLE IT SHUTS OFF I CLEANed THE CARB
AND AIR FILTER TWICE. ITS LIKE THERES NO POWER COMING FROM THE ENGINE.
that little brass rod is when theres too much gas in your car or say your
on a big hillor roll over its a bypass vent, it ignores the screw on the
bowl to drain fuel, it is a way that fyour bike doesnt get flooded
Ok, I have a 1989 Yamah moto4 200 and installed a Un Ait Filter. I have
been riding with it on there for about year. My exhaust smells really
funny. I've checked my plug and its really black.
the cover is there to act as a shield, atv's have a bumpy ride and can
force to much or to little fuel without the cover, it basically blocks the
jet from fuel slosh.
lol.. try layin off the dro before video.. that blowing on wrong hose deal
really confused me for like two minutes of video.. still great video man
... thanks
you were blowing the wrong hose, that wasn't the fuel in hose, thats why it
wasn't shutting off originally, but you blew on the right hose later on in
video
Yeah I noticed that too. Great video though. These are the best Motorcycle
Carb video series on Youtube. I rated all your videos. Thanks for these
videos.
I bought a new carberator for my trx 90 and it came with a tube air vent
leading to a cover connector. where does the cover connector connect too.
thanks
@jc3604sho sounds like your float might be stuck or the float valve is not
working. As far as parts, try bikebandit and the classifides at
3wheelerworld
The "switch" actuated by the float is the Float Valve. Some carb cleaners
will dissolve the rubber tip, it is better to just wipe it clean with
cleaner on a rag rather than soaking it. The first jet removed was the Main
jet, it is attached to the Needle jet. The other small jet is the Pilot jet
which is responsible for fuel delivery at idle and low rpm. Very important
to clean the tiny passageways below the Pilot jet also. Compressed air
works well. Good video for beginners to learn from.
Aww man these vids are awesome thanx for taking the time to make them for
noobs like me. Ive got a problem with my 1980 honda cb750. Every time i
give it full throttle or close to it, the engine chokes out on me. Youre
probably laughing at me right now but im a rookie when it comes to this
stuff and im not sure whats wrong. Any ideas as to whats up?
man great vid dude this helped a lot. I had a raptor 660 and i now know the
jets needed to be cleand, well i ddnt know how and it set for a while and
then it was stolen. Now i have a bayou and its doing the same thing the
raptor was doing so this vid tells me how to clean the jets and 4 that i
thank you,, so thanks.
yes vary good video, i have a better understanding of how it works, but
i'll leave it to the pros. One thing i could ask, is it a good idea to put
in a jet kit? are should you upgrade other parts at the same time.? id like
to get a little more out of my Lakota 300.. thanks
this video is great, very well explained, i am repairing an old kh250 and i
am having carb trouble, it floods all the time, now i know i have to make
sure the jet seats and my float level is correct, thanks a lot for
sharing...
good explaination i just got a 83 185s from a guy at work it was locked up
and i got it to fire last night im going to start on the carb here in a
minute...the tank has a small bit of rust in it...any ideas or tips on that?
wow just got done and it runs like new, it makes me want to kill my self
that i let that raptor sit for so long cuz i ddnt know how or what to do,
but thanks for the video guy it helped a lot.
Is there a certain way to put the top part on where the throttle cable
connects? I took mine apart and put everything back together and now there
is little tension in the cable.
Hey thanks a lot for making the informational video. I do have 1 question
though. What would make a honda 185 s 3 wheeler run at full throttle all
the time?
i put a bunch of little rocks in mine and some kerosene in mine and shook
the hell out of it. Did this a few times. Spray out the petcock too. Good
Luck!
Jalen, Sorry man. NH Forums led me here. I know it's awful to wonder why a
bike won't run. I'm fixing a 91 and it's seemingly down to the carbs. It
runs for an hour, then the next day doesn't run...exasperating. Good luck.
For the record, youtube, yes it was Jalen's pilot jets, clogged with old
fuel varnish in the long axis, the side to side view of this fuel emulsion
holes was clear. He's back on the road.
