it makes a statement about, like i said, one student's experiences. if it's
not about race then why is it an issue? and i actually go to howard so i
would say i know a thing or two about race relations/history. if the show
scandal doesn't get grief then i'm not sure why this should. the show -
produced by a black woman - actually dethrones a black man in power,
replaces him with a white man, and then paints a back woman as a mistress
(not exactly a positive message to send). but what do i know.
What is being portrayed is one single student's experience - who happens to
be Caucasian. It's not a campaign for interracial dating or a "post racial
Howard." I'm not sure how the video takes away from HU being a "safe
haven." People and their opinions are shaped by their experiences and
interactions. If the author of the article actually knew Jill and the type
of person she is, I highly doubt the article would read the same. With that
being said, I'm so proud of you Jill! Keep pushing
I found this video through a blog while i was doing some research ..It was
a sista who had graduated from Howard..Saying she wasn't pleased with the
interracial part of the video smh So I came here expecting a lot of hate
comments. Like the interracial cheerios commercial..But I see mostly
positivity..That's what i want see more of. Equality and love between all
races.. People allowed to love without being shamed for it...living in a
pro color blind society. Nice voice Jillian Parker.
I am so proud of my son Akinbola for producing this great work of art.. He
is self taught videographer and writer. I can't wait to see what you create
when you are blessed to oneday have a mentor who is in the business. My
congrats goes to Jill for writing and performing such a beautiful song. I
love your voice. The entire family knows your song by heart. I commend Jill
a Howard Alum and Akinbola a current Howard student for this beautiful
work. They both represent the best of HBCU's.
Screw what that "alum chick" said.... Clearly she has no life.. But anywho
love uuuuuuuuu Mwahz I love the video and I can't wait to see more... Keep
your head up and don't worry about ppl like her.....❤ great video and very
nice voice and I always knew u do great.. U have a huge future ahead of you
and I'm glad I'm part of it.... I want u to go and live your dream.. And
now it s becoming a reality!!!!!!!!! Fuck the haters hahahaa thy are just
jealous Love u Jillian!
I love you Jill! Ive been living and working in NYC for the last 2 years
and I was at Battle of the Bands last night around industry folk and an
alum who owns the venue it was at mentioned this. I guessed it might be you
and found an ebony article today. screw what ppl say...anyone who has met
you and really heard you knows you are ginuine, sweet and talented than a
mug (midwest slang). Stay as positive and true as your heart always has
been!
well I know the author and if you knew her or ANYTHING about race
relations/history....especially concerning women of color and the alpha
black male you would understand...I agree with Jamilah...it's NOT about the
race of the characters...it is sending a message. One that black women have
seen all to frequently. That is what art does...makes a statement...does it
not?
To start the production was good. congrats on that Secondly not "hating" on
the video but the song could of been better or the performance. Don't
really care about the interracial part or that its at howard. The song
itself could of been better with a little more emotion. Not hating, just
saying
My favorite moment is ToaVon's over the shoulder shot at 2:53 . I love the
composition, the contrast of the white against the brick wall, and the way
the wind billows her dress only when she's in focus. I also love at 0:30
when the lacrosse ball hits his foot, right on the downbeat, lol
I'm a Howard alum myself and this is ridiculous that ppl think because she
is white she can't make a music video at Howard with our fellow bison
athletes and peers... GTFOH.. Cut the nonsense out.. These ppl just need
something to write about that's all! I'm here for u baby girl :)
