Prof. Stephen Parker - Why we must fight university deregulation
Prof. Stephen Parker, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Canberra, speaking against the deregulation of Australian university fees at the National Alliance for ...
Firstly, Australia has the most expensive Universities in the World and
Secondly like many other AU$$I€ Unis, the University of Sydney is one of
the most expensive Universities in Australia. In other words, the
University of Sydney is certainly one of the most expensive universities in
the World + Living expenses in Sydney is overwhelmingly dear.
For example, Imagine you want to study Engineering at the University of
Sydney. Unfortunately the fee is pretty scary, total = $32100 × 4 EFS =
$128,400. Unlike Big banks we students don't have a money printing machine.
Even if we borrow some Loan from Banks, sooner or later we have to pay
$128,400 + Interest + Bullshit for the Loan created by Banks out of thin
air simply by typing on a bloody computer. I bet there is a lot of hidden
fees as well for tools, books and stuffs.
This is only for the basic Bachelors degree. if you wanna do a higher
degree like Masters of Engineering or Doctorate it becomes overwhelmingly
expensive.
We students on the other hand, being at the bottom of the food chain always
have to suffer for doing nothing wrong.
What are my mathematical birthdays? | NumberHub with Matt Parker | Head Squeeze
Who wants to celebrate a normal birthday? Why not celebrate a mathematical birthday instead? They're much more fun! When you are 20 years old you will ...
I rather celebrate Tau Birthdays, So 365.249*τ So You celebrate after
2294.9 days which is at 6 years and 104 days.
You would celebrate 10τ after 22949 days so at 62 years and 303 days.
You would celebrate τ^τ after 14419 days so at 39 years and 174 days.
As a mathematician, you should really know not to use a *generic*
programming language for mathematical calculations when there are many math
programs that exist *precisely* for doing these kinds of calculations with
a vastly larger range, accuracy and often speed. Some of them are even
free, such as
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PARI/GP
Eventually, the gap between the primes will be greater than 365. Wolfram MathWorld (//mathworld.wolfram.com/PrimeGaps.html) says that a prime gap of 354 (which is still too small) starts at the prime number 4,320,407,359. If we measure this in days, it's about 11,787,417 years. Even in seconds, this measures to about 136 years before you have 354 consecutive seconds where none of them are prime (relative to your birth).

2013 Commencement Address: Douglas Parker, MBA'86.
W. Douglas Parker (MBA '86), Chairman and CEO of US Airways, delivers remarks to the Owen Graduate School of Management's Class of 2013 and members ...
Why are you people giving his presentation skills such a hard time? He's
anot a professional speaker, he is a overtly abused human, who knows the
score probably better than any of us, coming out and speakin what he knows
as truth. NOt easy.
This was one of the worst lectures I have ever heard!!! The speaker, Jay
Parker, was so belligerent towards the audience. That I thought he was
going to start crying at one stage!!! I also thought that through his
ramblings he was going to get so pissed and start throwing stuff at the
audience!!! Jesus!!! Plus calling the FBI, the federal bureau of the
illuminati was going a bit to far...The FBI has many flaws as an
organization but it being the a slave for the illuminati??? I don't think
so!!! Also he used the film 'what the bleep do we know' as a positive
reference!?! What the hell??? I have seen that film it basically says very
little of anything... I actually thought it was a recruitment tool for a
cult. I actually feel a little befuddled and bemused by the whole
lecture!!!..
+Nadya PhoenixWho's being cowardly? The church of Satan is telling you all what exactly they're about. They don't believe in an actual personification of the devil. The church believes that Satan is about being a symbol of rebellion and self indulgence. Worshiping of the self. Not some fake deity. Anyway much of Anton Lavey's book, The Satanic Bible was directly ripped off from the famous writer Ayn Rand! So many right-wingers are not going to be pleased with that. HAHA!!!Anyway if I was a Satanist I would surely let you know. But I''m as much as a Satanist as I am a true believer in god! Sorry I'm an atheist and don't worry I am not being cowardly...Cheers, Nick...
+nyk666 satan Which is exactly what the Church of Satan professes - this is a quote from their official website: "WHY DO SATANISTS WORSHIP THE DEVIL?We don’t. Satanists are atheists. We see the universe as being indifferent to us, and so all morals and values are subjective human constructions.Satan to us is a symbol of pride, liberty and individualism, and it serves as an external metaphorical projection of our highest personal potential. We do not believe in Satan as a being or person."Nice try satanists :D even too cowardly to admit what they really are :D
Nope. I'm an atheist I just like using the term of Satan because, Satan is the adversary. I certainly don't believe there is a Satan either. If you do, well you're unbearably naive...
You can believe everything that comes from me!!! By the way I'm a very adept critic. I have a degree in psychology and film and media. Plus I'm working on a graduate diploma in criminology...So believe that!!!
Good Grief!!! Did this guy not realize he was going there 2 give a
speech??? This was painful to listen and get thru due 2 his hemming and
hawing! :/
+Butterfly1Queen I disagree. I think he did a spectacular job talking about something that will always be painful for him, given the fact that his own parents sacrificed him. What a brave man. What a loving man!
+Butterfly1Queen It wasn't that bad! I wasn't bothered at all. I found what he was saying too riveting to concern myself with his struggles at times: this is painful for him! I admire him, and we should all be grateful to him for sharing this information. It comes from love for mankind!
+Butterfly1Queen I don't think it's him. Sometimes I have the same problem with certain speakers but it just comes down to being in the mood to take enough time. I think it also depends on our connection to the particular speaker. I can actually listen to him, but I know where you're coming from.
+Tron Javolta I tried, I really did .. but between him shuffling and stuttering around and the computer acting up, and it being 2.30AM, I just got frustrated and gave up .. i'll come back and give it another try when it's not so late and I have more grace and tolerance! lol ;-)
