0:54 seconds see that girl talking to her self? More than half the homeless people i see in oahu do that and either oahu has a schizophrenia rate 1000x higher than it should be or people are crystal methed out of their effing minds. I'll go with the meth answer since the actual people reported to be affected by that disease is 1.1% of 7.5 billion (entire world). Someone is sending these douches here from the mainland, most of them are non local. Some town prob got tired of the local junkie and said "here's a one way ticket to hawaii...its never cold there" have fun.

+ardylovesunot It's really this simple but no one wants to admit this for fear they will be inhumane so the problem just drags. I see drug deals go down at the golf course all the time. They exhibit all the signs of a meth heads and is mostly the reason they are shouting at themselves. If you ask these people about drugs they are pretty open to the subject too. People think its schizophrenia which is a super rare disease but its not the case.

I live I hawaii and there is a TON a places for homeless people to take themselves to and live in their tents just fine. The problem is they won't have the tourists to bum money from or stores to go to because they are so far away from everything. Guess what? Learn to live off the land and move to the woods which s re everywhere. Collect rain water and boil it. Chickens and pigs run wild here. Catch them, kill them, and cook them. Bananas, avocados, and other fruit grow wildly here. I know because we pick them and take them home to eat. Why can't the homeless do the same?? For gosh sakes, start teaching people to live off the land unless they just are looking for handouts, in which case, sterilize them so they don't make the problem worse

I'm sorry to you folks. I am and I hope you will relocate to a great place. I imagine since you shared a fence with a kindergarten class and along with good people, some violent felons, sex offenders and drug abusers use your facilities , was a huge factor in why it was best you continue your wonderful services elsewhere. Charity is very important..the safety of many children seems very important too... anything can happen anywhere but you up the odds like this...I am truly sorry it has disrupted your services . I know that your passion for helping these people and your faith in God will help you continue doing what you love. I wish the powers that be ( money wise ) city/state would help with these issues more but alas, they are not as kind as you folks.... I hope to see your new place in a better place soon. peace and love

I agree. I have total sympathy for the homeless but honestly speaking, some of them are potentially dangerous (not all). I spent two months on the streets myself. I met the working poor, the mentally ill, convicted felons, and some sexual offenders. It runs the gamut; the risks are there unfortunately.

Really? What do you know about poverty in America? and what makes you think that being employed at minimum wage is going to solve homelessness?
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8AXjzs_LNbs/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADE/C16PSPX4RUQ/photo.jpg?sz=64
Live Scan technology allows digitally scanned fingerprints and related information to be submitted electronically to the Department of Justice within a matter of minutes and allows criminal background checks to be processed usually within 72 hours. The question is, is this legal and should the city have the right to do that? I understand that they want to protect the community from people who want to do wrong things or do things that are illegal, However, I believe that the city should work with the church to find solutions and not have to shut down a wonderful project that turn lives around. I would contact ACLJ and Liberty institute.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-7UeNMUW1c78/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACM/POVzxBpTDGo/photo.jpg?sz=64
Pathetic to just target the homeless. In all fairness, 'fine upstanding pillars of the community' commit horrendous crimes all the time! Why aren't we requiring fingerprint scans of every person who applies for a mortgage or a business license? In fact, let's expand that to include police officers, firefighters, border patrol agents, and anyone else who works with vulnerable people. Or do away with it entirely.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
I live in this neighborhood too, and I think its complete BULLSHIT why this church got shut down. These people are just trying to stay alive from day to day. And the city took away their place for worship and help. And for the other resident that claims she's been sexually harassed on her way to school: sweetheart, there are other ways to get to school. Take a bus. (but I can't guarantee you the same thing won't happen by normal people) Have someone drive you. Walk a different route. And yes, We will pray for you too, We will pray that you do get some sleep. In your warm bed. Inside your warm house. That you get to go home to every night. If only we were all so lucky.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-qJu6DpKs444/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAARQ/ZuyoWZaeAHE/photo.jpg?sz=64
I think what is making these arguments so odd is that When people are defending the closure,  the word "homeless" is being used to describe what most likely are  ALSO sex offenders,  violent felons, extremelymentally ill people sometimes homeless sometimes not...then people argue back with " you hate the homeless"  when obviously there are many many decent human beings who are homeless but those are not the folks that are being complained about... It is important to be charitable yes, but it is ALSO important to protect the kids at school  who share the fence with the church and the lil ones who live steps away... even some of the homeless folks are in favor of a relocation but I see such one sided arguments all over.... its like we the people just deal with each other  like the clowns in government...conveniently leaving out stuff.... people chiming in with rude tasteless and intolerant support of ridding the neighborhood of human life JUST to fuel the anger of those who feel deep compassion for these folks and think this is the majority feeling. Its all sad really... these services should be available and some people are dicks but you can not ignore that this DOES up the odds for children being exposed to danger they shouldn't have to be exposed to. come on now... just quit fighting and help them get a new place if you care so much about this church and its cause.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Why should anyone have to deter their course and not feel safe in their own neighborhood? Pictures have been shown and proof has been documented where the homeless were passed out on curbs, throwing up on the park bench and walking in the middle of the street where you had to pull over to let them by. Pictures and the fact they refused live scan to insure no pedophile was within the children's day care right next door. The fact that they refused live scan says a lot!
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-d9nDLVhkBLQ/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACo/GwQKZnQiHXw/photo.jpg?sz=64
No need to pray until you walk in my shoes(: If you're sooooo concerned  why not welcome homeless in your OWN warm home and teach them to respect underage children and make your own 'shuttle system' if you insist I go to school a different way because I have no other choices? My "route" to school is no concern as I take every public and main streets to do my best to AVOID these 'peoples' and their behaviors.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-vVuhO41dvS8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABg/0LVh3RCkZGU/photo.jpg?sz=64
Here is the TRUTH you don't see in the enoch propaganda. The church is on Prebel Ave. next to a school, park, and daycare. The homeless population has a very high percentage of mentally ill and registers sex offenders. So what the church has done is put a large number of sex offenders and mentally ill people right next to children. Now the kids in the neighborhood can't walk around or play without parents constantly there. No one is against feeding the homeless, but child safety has to come first and the church is unwilling to to relocate the meals to an area that is safer for the children.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Patrick Dennison They refused to live scan or take names, which would eliminate sex offenders etc.. In which case gave probable cause in court, this is why Harbor Church lost their case.

+FORMETOKNOWONLY We did want the church. Many did. Our town is overwhelmed with homeless people. I can show you videos of thirty plus years trying to help the mysterious surge of homeless that came in 1978 and never stopped. So always some resent it. Teenagers attack them. It's not their fault, it' our economic policies to always keep people unemployed. Except for Nixon and Obama who wanted everybody prosperous.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
It would appear that way.  Looks like this church isn't wanted in the community.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-xWIbFu7Rgt8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAc/XSO1thljNWA/photo.jpg?sz=64
I have nothing against the ministry that they are doing. I do have problems with people relieving themselves in yards, families not being able to allow their kids to go the park, and needles being found on the school playground. The program is a great program but it should not be next to a park and elementary school in a family neighborhood. Those who are saying, and thinking, not in my yard don't live in the neighborhood or have family that have been affected by the people the ministry has attracted. ⅔ of my family are in the neighborhood and go to the elementary school and we have several friends that have told us stories of stolen property, using front yards as bathrooms, needles being found in the park and school playground, people sleeping in the park and school playground. I think the church in the neighborhood is a great thing, i think the ministry is a great thing. The ministry needs to move to another location. Great ministry but location is bad. This is not an "In My Neighborhood" argument. Its protect the children and families that live there. The city is big, there has got to be a better location to do this. Those that have said this is a Not In My Neighborhood response how about we put it in your neighborhood. Let's put it next to Poinsettia, Balboa, Mound, or any other school or neighborhood (you want it college heights?). It doesn't belong next to any school or in any family neighborhood.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+YamCherieThis has nothing to do with compassion, and everything to do with safety. There's a difference between teaching compassion by exposing your children to the homeless population, and expecting your children to play in playgrounds full of used needles. And yes, you are absolutely to believe that the homeless attendees have chosen to urinate on driveways rather than use the church's facilities. The city, police, and residents all have numerous video of this, if you don't believe witness accounts.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
Are we really to believe, let me get this straight now, that the homeless attendees of the churches services are choosing to decline usage of the clean, stocked, warm, private AND legal bathroom facilities of the church in order to partake in the joys of urinating in a nearby driveway for all to see, just praying that the super friendly tenants don't chase them with bats or that the police don't stop by for a thorough pat down and a round of urinating in public tickets. Somehow that makes no sense at all. Are you also suggesting that parents who find it unacceptable to have their children in the presence of homeless people somehow aren't actually perpetuating the very situation we need to end? Yes, your kids need to see what homelessness looks like. It's not cooties. The issue doesn't go away because you demand the right to raise ignorant and compassionless kids. And don't pretend you don't get it when a group of 4th graders bullies a classmate into suicide. Compassion starts at home, not somewhere else because it's inconvenient. This is why your kids don't come to you with their hard problems as teens. You're NOT fooling them. They see how you judge people, they hear what you say about people and they see the disapproval on your face every time you pass judgement. If you love your kids at all, teach them that this is everyone's problem. Teach them some humble lessons and have them pass out candy to homeless kids this Christmas. Teach them to smile and say hi to the homeless. Teach them compassion and stop teaching them how to make excuses for apathy.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-xWIbFu7Rgt8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAc/XSO1thljNWA/photo.jpg?sz=64
Its about the safety of the children and residents and not operating legally. (Have not had a permit for the usage either). If you are all so hot on this topic. Put it in your family neighborhood and next to your kids elementary school and park. The program just needs to moved out of the family neighborhood, away from the park and school.

I have never said any thing about them being sex offenders. I only mentioned things that have happened in the neighborhood. When you see people cropping in your yard, finding needles in the school yard, and scaring your children it's not good. This is in a FAMILY neighborhood NEXT TO AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. That is not a place to run this ministry. I AM NOT AGAINST THE MINISTRY. IAM AGAINST IT BEING IN A FAMILY NEIGHBOORHOOD NEXT TO A FAMILY PARK AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
I've heard many like yours on TI websites. What you are doing is taking part of non-judicial punishment and it is unconstitutional. How do you know that they are sex offenders? Some slander artist or did you ever ask. You are afraid of people that have lost everything? Where would you rather they go? FEMA camps to be put to death?   Jesus came to seek and to save the lost.

Apparently some people have Yurts in Fairfield, Fairbanks (what's it called?) in Alaska! I think it would be a bit cold but we had people in Yurts at our place in Scotland where we had 100mph winds and minus twenty eight degrees C. Last February I wouldn't have fancied it as we lost over a thousand spruce (mature) in a couple of days! I think I might have felt a bit exposed. .they nearly levelled my sister's granite house and we had to evacuate the horses to the front garden! We were expecting to see Yurts flying by but they are quite weather tight!

+wanetta renay Actually Capitalism in it's true state is a highly successful economic structure. However what we've had since the early 1980's has been a slow shift away from Capitalism. If the rules of actual Capitalism are followed it produces a bulging middle class, penalizes financial gluttony (different from success or greed) and provides for the infirm and poorest among us.

Hate me all you want, but, hate is just as bad as greed in my eyes. There are less people in the world living under the poverty level than ever before in human history, due to the spreading of capitalism in poor and destitute countries. FACT! Also, where did you get that definition of capitalism? Source please? Because it really sounds like YOUR definition of what YOU think capitalism is. Capitalism has helped me feed uncountable poor people and build an orphanage in Mexico. What have you done for the world other than complain about things you don't understand?
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-XoLuCmWhNvk/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAD0/IfVIi2hB36c/photo.jpg?sz=64
+BenevolentEarthShepard Capitalism is greed. To CAPITALIZE means to take advantage of, by nature. Bankers make money out of thin air and write out predatory loans that steal homes, vehicles and property all while the debt keeps climbing. There is no industry here anymore to build an economy on in the first place.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-XoLuCmWhNvk/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAD0/IfVIi2hB36c/photo.jpg?sz=64
+BenevolentEarthShepard Exceptionalism has very little to do with quantity and size and more to do with quality. Being a mindless consumer is stupid.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+BenevolentEarthShepardInteresting, I'm an American. Yet I use the word bullocks. If you understood Capitalism in the sense Adam Smith, the Godfather of Capitalism (accepted as such by both sides of the isle since the 1700's), presented it you'd realize that poverty is a glut which drags down a Capitalistic economy. Even Smith made the point a successful Capitalistic economy would require financial relief for it's poor.  In today's terms that's public assistance. Every dollar spent into a Capitalistic economy generates five dollars of economic value. You don't have to believe me but it appears you have plenty of spare time on your hands so perhaps use some of it to read the five volumes of Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith. Project Gutenburg has it available to read online or download for free. And if you're curious about how our founding fathers felt about Adam Smith's concept there are archived communications by and between themselves and Smith.  You termed the social assistance we have in America as a Social Democracy. It actually has nothing to do with Democracy, Socialism, or much of anything else except adhering to the foundation requirements of a successful Capitalistic economy. This is where so very American's get it wrong but it's understandable given the structure of a Capitalistic economy isn't taught. Instead Americans' rely on what their politicians tell them. This is incredibly dangerous and we're seeing today. The problem we see today is Capitalism is being replaced with the concepts of Free Market.   In Capitalism one major requirement is that the middle class be, if you will, catered to in order to remain the highest populated and greatest holder of wealth of the nation. Smith warns several times of the danger of allowing a small circle of the population to assume ownership of the majority of the wealth. One of the dangers, as we see today, is with ownership of the majority of the wealth of a nation in the hands of a comparatively few hands the balance of power and influence in regard to our government becomes swayed. Smith warns of the hard if not impossible to break cycle this produces in which the wealthy continue to get wealthier and an ever growing segment of the population fall into poverty. Less money is spent into the economy which results less money for jobs and so forth. The other thing you missed the mark on was taxes. Taxes have nothing to do with Socialism. Smith sets forth a structure for taxation in which the wealthiest pay the largest share of their income to funding the government. The middle class the next and the poorest paying the least, if any.  There are several chapters on why this must exist for a successful Capitalistic economy you can read about.I do hope you read Wealth of Nations. All five volumes. I hope anyone who reads this does because the only thing that's going to pull this nation out of the mess it's in now is people educating themselves about the structure of Capitalism.  What we're hearing from our politicians (and I mean both sides of the isle) and all of these politically aligned groups is bull. The direction America is being driven is Free Market. To note, the countries which charge no personal income tax are mostly all in the Middle East. These governments rely on the income from crude oil production and sales for revenue. The United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and in Asia Brunei Darussalam. Aside from those nations the only others which have governments which don't rely on revenue from oil are The Cayman Islands which relies on it's financial sector services for employment however the government relies on a 25% import tax for revenue. And most everything is imported.  Then you have Bermuda. Bermuda which claims to have no personal income tax actually does. It's the same amount for everyone up to $750,000. But Bermuda has exceptionally high property tax (19%), stamp tax on all inheritances and estates,  and a shockingly high import tax. Couple that with Bermuda being  where companies have been  flocking to over the past 2 decades but doesn't have the native population to meet the demand  the bulk of the workforce comes from outside Bermuda. The government charges a 25% customs tax on goods brought to the country by those headed to work in Bermuda. Plus $20,000 for each work permit that has a 10 year max life. Then the last one is the Bahamas. While again there is no personal income tax perse but citizens are still required to contribute a percentage of their income to the government. It's just not called a tax. The government makes 70% of it's income on import taxes and once again the bulk of what those in the Bahamas use are imported. Building supplies, electronics.. all the way down to most food products, spoons, forks,  dinner plates and clothing. I believe that last time I checked the import tax was around 28%. Now mind you in each of these countries citizens must make payment to the government for social security and pensions. In just a couple cases there is a required payment for the National Insurance. Interesting to note not one of these has a Capitalistic economy.

This is an apology/explanation. Actually you are wrong on every count about me. The only reason I commented in the first place was because you are sitting in another country telling us how we should live and the way we were raised was wrong, which is extremely arrogant. I must tell you, not every American is like the ones you are shown on the BBC and preached about in government schools. I am not on here telling you that you should be a capitalist. Yet, you are telling me I (and my country) should be socialist. Also, the countries I mentioned are communist governments, but  they are the only true "socialist" countries on earth. You can google or wiki that. I'm not sure which socialist countries you referred to have saved us?  I do remember learning that all of Europe would be speaking German if it hadn't been for the U.S. but, I do need to apologize to you for calling you nasty names and calling England a piece of shit. It is most definitely NOT! My great grandmother was one of the greatest people on earth and one of my biggest influences and she was raised there, so it can't be too bad of a place. You can have your opinion, but you should know that the U.S. isn't really a capitalist market. It's a mixed market with measures of both capitalism (stock markets, entrepreneurship, etc.) and socialist (welfare, federal income tax, social security, economic regulations, etc.). In the U.S. capitalists say we are socialist and socialist say that we are capitalist. The truth is that we are social capitalist and the UK is capital socialists. That's about the only difference, other than that I'm sure we agree on a number of issues, like being more "green earth friendly", shrinking the U.S. military industrial complex and doing more to help those in need at home and around the world. We shouldn't argue over the way to go about it. We should all just do everything we can to remedy the problems we do see. When I don't have money to give, I donate my time to feeding people and cleaning up the mission center. I know money means nothing, but I also know that when I have it, a lot more people get help. That's all.

the countrys you mentioned are communist, not socialist. capitalism is about profit and profit is very much about greed with the big corporations. capitalism is unamerican because it gives the fat cats all the money and screws the middle class and the poor. I never called you an alcoholic, everyone who doesn't think like you should leave the country, the socialists have saved your ass more than you know.  I will bet all your women do what you tell them, shut their mouths and make dinner for you or you call em cunts and a punch in the nose, you don't don't scare me, gramps, you are just an old ignorant dinosaur that will bend over for uncle sam just on general principals and pretend like he isn't screwing you. if this country isn't about the people, it's about nothing, and , in case you havnt noticed it the big corporations and your capitalism have turned america into the same kind of shit hole your people came from, hay, maybe you can still get a boat back.

Is that what you think about us? We are all just crying in our beer about not having a bigger house? What a dumb stereotyping cunt you are! Don't you realize that capitalism and greed are two different things? Do you blame guns for murder, or do you blame the person who pulled the trigger? It's true that capitalism facilitates greed, but it is not the cause of it. You said "depression", but there is no depression here. Just a RECESSION, due to merging global markets. It's been happening since the internet (a capitalist product) has been being used by more smaller and poorer countries. Those poorer countries can make their products cheaper and with the net, more available to people and lift them from poverty. Even Bono has seen this and teaches people about how confused and misled he was about capitalism. So, maybe you should stop talking about markets and hating on other peoples countries and just stick to making beads for the next drum circle. See, I can stereotype too! Here are some facts taught to us alcoholic, greedy Americans:1. The government that gives you everything, has the power to take it away. 2. There is free cheese in every mouse trap.  There are only a few socialist countries in this world. China, Cuba, Lao, and Vietnam. You should pick one of those places to move. Then you can sit with them and stereotype and comment about how stupid we are. If your county wasn't busy taking over half of your paycheck, you would have enough money to help the charities that are close to your heart. We give about 30 billion a year to charities and devastated countries. France, Germany and the U.K. give less than half of that combined! So, you can talk all you want about how much better your country is than ours, but at the end of the pay week, you can barely help yourselves let alone any other country. My family is able to give me shelter. If they couldn't do it, there is a PEOPLES charity that would. It's not the governments (a.k.a. all U.S. tax payers) job to shelter me. It is the communities job and they are doing it well. So, hate all you want. Call me "yank", or whiny alcoholic (which I don't even drink), but at the end of the day, I'm glad my great Grandma got on that boat, alone at age 12 and left that shit hole called England and came here!

capitalism caused this mess, consumerism is just a con to get people to spend money they don't have on things that they don't need. I lived in a woman's shelter for a while, poverty taught me that crying in your beer just because your house isn't as large as your neighbor or they have a boat and you don't is a very spoiled immature attitude. you yanks should try socialism, it would get you out of this depression. I am very proud to call myself a hippie, we were way ahead of our time

I am homeless living in a shelter at a family members house and it is the bigger, better, newer mentality that is helping to push me out of this hole back to where I was. So, you can bash American exceptionalism all you want, but it is what helped us to be a country where I am surrounded by people who can help me out when I'm down. Your voice sounds American, but then use words like "bullocks", so I can tell you were either raised by some socialist Brits, or you are lying about being raised in America. If you want to teach people how to live comfortably in squalor, that's fine, but don't refer to our desire to be more than  pennyless hippies as a "bill of goods" (another Brit term). Just another bigot America hater here. Be careful talking about "bigger, nicer and sometimes even permanent houses" someone might think your an evil capitalist! Nothing has helped get rid of poverty more than capitalism. Not even all the hippies on earth!

Just more of Ron Book's BS propaganda. He's probably paying for one month's rent for these folks, but, without a job, in one month it will be the same issue.
