@dogdillius - And how are these natural rights obtained if not through
government? Does god protect these rights? If I go steal your car, if god
going to strike me with lightning? LOL... Nope, the government is going to
enforce the laws against stealing. A "natural right" is just a term
right-wingers use to make is seem as if the RIGHTS they are for are
untouchable. But I see through your bullshit. I can make the same argument.
Healthcare and an income are natural rights. Yay for natural rights!
@dogdillius - 2) "property I can own becomes mine only because I choose to
exchange resources with another consenting person who agrees on the value
(price) to transfer ownership." Who says it's yours? Government laws. It's
not like the world naturally agrees with whatever rules YOU decide to set.
The people decide what rights are, not you alone. Without healthcare you
have no right to live. Last time I checked you can live without property.
Looks like you have an ideological double standard.
@Vote3rdParty Pure democracy is bad. A democratic republic is good. The
property I can own becomes mine only because I choose to exchange resources
with another consenting person who agrees on the value (price) to transfer
ownership. I could also achieve such an exchange with a Doctor, or a
college - but I don't have a right to be given land, healthcare, or
education via forced redistribution of wealth by the state. the use of
political force to make people do things has ultimately a bad effect
The bill was only to take effect in D.C. Gay marriage is not legal there.
Therefore the only group banned from adopting is gays. I will say though,
the code language was a great attempt to mislead the ignorant public. And
where in the constitution does it say the state owns women's reproductive
rights? Where does it say gays are not allowed to marry? Ron Paul cherry
picks the constitution to fit his paleocon ideology. He even wants to ban
birthright citizenship! Way to shit on the constitution!
@Vote3rdParty Where in the U.S. -a mixed economy do you know people who are
being forced to accept their wages? Whenever someone's labor is stolen by
force, it is certainly slavery. I (and my anarcho-capitalist friends) agree
that working for dictators is not liberty. The exact opposite of liberty is
slavery. What is immoral about people coming together in the marketplace to
exchange goods and services? It is only when force is introduced by
criminals or politicians that it can become immoral.
@Vote3rdParty I prefer "free markets" to "capitalism". There is always
capital - it just depends which system provides the greatest access to it.
But yes I am describing capitalism as most call it. Everyone gains from
voluntary exchange. The alternative to voluntary exchange is involuntary
exchange. With a free market (the freer the better) everyone has at least
some economic power. When government controls the economy minorities - and
often the great majority - have no economic power at all.
@Vote3rdParty I am opposed to socialism and democracy as I am opposed to
initiating force against people. I am also opposed to any additional
revenue for the federal government and there can be no such thing as a
"right" to anything - and that includes jobs, college education,
healthcare. So we are at the classic crossroads of disagreement on economic
matters. Let us work together then on ending the Wars now. One major party
candidate - that I know of - will end the Wars if elected. Ron Paul.
@Vote3rdParty Laws in a civil society are based on protecting rights that
we have at birth - these basic rights are "inalienable", not subject to the
whim of legislators. Hitler made sure all of the laws supported his agenda
before executing his plan. I have a right to live and do what I want - as
long as I don't force others to do things I want them to do. Mutual consent
is the key. My number one property is me, my body, my life. I may choose to
own healthcare - but not by forcing others
Some of these quotes were taken 20 or more years ago. Anybody ever have a
change of opinion in the span of 20 years? I know I have. And like
Dogdilius said, they lack context. Much of what he said was likely true.
Most laws passed for equality establish social inequity. The feminists
fought to have the same Jobs men had; coincidentally it now requires two
incomes for most families to pay the bills. Children are then left to be
raised by the state in government approved day care facilities
@Vote3rdParty Democracy is an improvement over dictatorship but can also
become rule by mob. I prefer a constitutional republic.Of course there are
property rights - starting with the fact that we own ourselves, but there
is can be no such positive rights to "things" that are dependent on others
providing the resources involved. There is only one fundamental right (all
the others are its consequences or corollaries): a (wo)man’s right to his
(her) own life. You have 3rd party names yet?
@justjulie37 - I will post my sources for all the quotes in the extended
info. The one's toward the end are from the Ron Paul Political Report
published by Ron Paul & Associates from 1988 to 1995. Paul admitted to
writing them on several occasions in 1996, but has since changed his story
to "it was a ghost-writer." They are alos written in 1st person. Watch my
other video "Ron Paul admits writing racist newsletters." I will send you a
personal message when I have gathered all my sources.
@dogdillius - Yeah, it says you have a "right to life" and "promote the
general welfare." So I could use that justify supporting single payer
healthcare and a right to an income. See, single payer and an income are
"natural rights" because you don't have a right to live without them!
Instead of arguing that the rights you support have some sort of AUTHORITY
over the rights I support, maybe you should explain why you believe the
rights you support are more important than those I support.
@Vote3rdParty Its not my choice to be born and to have my gender, my race,
my parent or guardians economic status. After that I can (in a free
society) make my own choices. Being poor sucks so what is the best - the
most compassionate system for giving people the chance to make more choices
and control their lives - it is liberty, free markets - not government
programs or forced central planning. Govt wars and extermination programs
as the leading cause of unnatural death speak to this.
@dogdillius - You're comparing being born a certain race (physical
condition) to being born into wage slavery (economic condition)? We can
change our immoral economic structure, but we can't change our race. A
libertarian "free" market is an oxymoron, and any anarchist would agree.
Having to choose between working for Stalin, working for Mussolini, or
working for Hitler is not "liberty." And any one is seriously twisted who
believes that. There wouldn't be government wars in anarchism.
Morally, Congressman Paul believes that marriage is between a man and a
woman. He has noted on numerous times that to have a discussion concerning
the definition of something already defined is not a proper function of any
government. He has noted that states did not create the idea of marriage,
but rather recently began to issue licenses for health reasons. He notes
that most people view their marriage day as being joined in the eyes of
their creator and not in the eyes of the state.
If you truly understand what this country was founded on & our
Constitution, you would understand Dr. Paul. The Constitution is not just a
good idea, it's the law. Our federal government was not put in place to
control our lives and categorize us into groups. Like the good Dr. says, we
are born with our rights and no government should take them away unless we
do something to hurt someone. You should all be thankful there is someone
out there fighting for you individual rights. RP2012
Yes, I know he is only for the federal courts when they take the paleocon
view. Ron Paul is yet again shitting on the constitution. There are three
branches of government for a fucking reason. And that's to balance each
other out so one cannot get too powerful. But Paul wants the states to be
able to take away our individual rights and even our citizenship. What a
tyrannical overlord Paul would be as President of Texas after they seceded.
LOL! Ron Paul hates the U.S. Constitution.
@Vote3rdParty In the marketplace who "forces" me to purchase or trade or
barter for some product or service I want - unless there is a monopoly made
possible by the government granting priviledges to a lobbying business? BTW
- Force means more than violence such as hitting someone with a club - it
includes physical action such as stealing, damaging, polluting, - causing
harm without permission - also breach of contract, fraud, extortion.
*Persuasion, boycotting, are not force.
@Vote3rdParty American rights impose no obligations on other people, merely
the negative obligation to leave you alone. The system guarantees you the
chance to work for what you want -- not to be given it without effort by
somebody else. The right to life, e.g., does not mean that your neighbors
have to feed and clothe you; it means you have the right to earn your food
and clothes yourself. No one can forcibly stop your struggle for these
things or steal them from you.
@dogdillius - If it's not your choice to be in a certain situation and yet
you still are, then it is forced upon you. I could raise you so that you do
not think you are slave. Doesn't mean you are not one. Just like if you are
poor you are forced to either be a debt slave to insurance companies or die
from having no healthcare. If you can choose which thief you want to steal
from you is that a force free system? I think not, because the system
itself is forced on you.
@dogdillius - USA = A free market economy. MoP are privately owned. There
are social programs which are only needed because of the wrath of the free
market. "What is immoral about people coming together in the marketplace
to exchange goods and services?" Nothings wrong with that. Straw man?
Anarcho-capitalism entails a market free from regulation whether it be from
government or workers councils. Under this system you either work for a
private dictator or starve.
@dogdillius - 1) A representative democracy is why we're fucked right now.
Our elected officials almost NEVER vote for what the American people want.
A HUGE majority want taxes raised on the elitists who have stolen our
money. Yet our elected officials keep cutting taxes and subsidizing the
plutocracy. The corporations can buy off the puppets in Washington but they
can't buy off you and I along with the rest of the millions in the U.S.
Power to the people!
@dogdillius - And I prefer socialism to socialism. Free market capitalism
IS capitalism, which is obvious. Yes everyone does gain by voluntary
exchange, which is why I support socialism, and not "free" market
capitalism which is by definition theft. The "free" market really means you
get to choose for between dictator A, B, or C. See, it's so free! You get
to choose your dictator! No, that's not free because you are forced into
that illegitimate system.
@dogdillius - "I prefer a constitutional republic." We have a DEMOCRATIC
republic because we are able to VOTE for our leaders. The constitution
clearly establishes that. Still opposed to democracy? "there can be no such
thing as a "right" to anything" "Of course there are property rights"
Looks like you disagree with yourself. Property rights are positive rights
that do not exist without the government. So why are you against a right to
healthcare?
@dogdillius - "there can be no such thing as a "right" to anything" "Laws
in a civil society are based on protecting rights that we have at birth"
You are all over the board. Either you believe in rights or not, which one
is it? You have a clear ideological double standard. Just because you label
something a "birth right" or "natural right" doesn't magically give you
those rights. Rights are from the government. What's not to get? It's very
simple.
@dogdillius - I don't see anything libertarian about those people you
mentioned besides the wars, torture, spying, and the patriot act. They
deserve credit for those issues, but they don't go far enough. They will
have to change their stance on socialism and democracy to get my vote.
Taxes need to go up on the rich, firm regulations, money has to be
separated from politics, and everyone needs a right to a job, college
education, and healthcare.
In keeping with his views on federalism, Congressman Paul supports the
Marriage Protection Act. This legislation ensures federal courts will not
undermine any state laws regulating marriage by forcing a state to
recognize same-sex marriage licenses issued in another state. The Marriage
Protection Act thus ensures that the authority to regulate marriage remains
with individual states and communities, as the drafters of the Constitution
intended
"Legally, Congressman Paul has noted that marriage is not an issue for the
federal government." Yet he supports DOMA, a federal bill to make sure gay
marriages are not recognized by the federal government! What a fraud and a
liar Ron Paul is. Paul also cosponsored a bill that would define life as
beginning at conception. Therefore, no matter what state you are in, if you
get an abortion, that's the equivalent to murder.
@Vote3rdParty I'm a life long Libertarian and ran for office. Fair enough -
if a significant Libertarian or libertarian independent steps up to run and
is more libertarian than Ron Paul, I'll vote for her / him. Gary Johnson is
up next to lead the libertarian charge in 2016 if he stays relevant enough
some how. I'll be watching Rand Paul - hoping he leans increasingly
libertarian instead of conservative.
hey i noticed something : In the godfather 1 vito swears by THE SOUL OF THE
CHILDS OF HIS SONS the peace between the 5 families will not be broken ,
but micheal broke that peace and the punishment begins....
Frankly, I think the "Dad" was effective for what just happened. I would have thrown up if the script had had her whimpering as she collapsed, "Daddy.....I'm.....dying. Look. He.....shot....me. Save.....me." ::gasp::as she succumbs. :p
