I don't think the audio would come across as an accurate representation of the CB radio if we put it in a video. The range is dependent on the CB antenna paired with the radio

So the speaker failed on that one too..... I had to replace mine 3 years
from new. It shot out the core magnet one day.
I never liked power mics and solved the basey modulation by adding a high
pass filter and switching to crystal mic elements rather than dynamic ones.
Tandy sold them as an upgrade CB mic element replacement back then in the
1980's. Can't buy them today.
Another fault was that the 2SC2028 output power transistor would snap its
own legs up close to the packaging through repeated thermal expansion and
contraction over time creating a block to RF yet allow DC from a multimeter
to flow through it when running a diagnoses, which adds to the confusion.
Only way of detecting this fault is that when the screw is undone the
transistor falls off of its legs.
Replaced mine with a MRF 475 item as these are more resislient.
I also have the A3 poster sized circuit diagram for the board which I
aquired back in 1983.
I recently bought a Uniden 100 at a Ham radio rally which has a broken
squelch pot..... the connection part has fatigued and detached from the
securely mounted pot. Any idea where or what a suitable replacement could
be found??
+UK CB radio servicing If I said that my old battered 341 sat on top of the clocks of a 350cc 2 stroke motorcycle and suffered at not exactly legal speeds in all winds and weathers (including trips into Wales) for thousands of miles over several years it is surprising that it still works. It was certainly worth the £120 I paid for it new back in 1981 from Dixons.I now tend to aquire Audioline and Uniden rigs as I find them as I'm more than familiar with the brand, find them engineer friendly and obviously extremely tough.I'll have to figure how to fit something else which might involve some actual chassis modification regarding the hole. The pot is a miniature type. I could try the local Maplins for a close match. None of the ones I have lying around fit in the space.
+Andy Reid I'm afraid specific parts after 30 years have dried up. I buy in the odd scrap set from time to time & illegal AM sets of similar vintage can also be cheap donors.
Yes, I presume their chain of HiFi shops were the original importers....then they realised like Boots & Woolworths etc that CB radios simply couldn't be sold out of a box.
+John Johnson well as you can see in my videos, I guess I am the repurpose guy. Still what have you got in mind as far as price and shipping to Detroit
+John Johnson My purpose was not to profit, but to save this unit and to re-purpose it into the right hands. I see so much history just being thrown out due to ignorance or just not caring these days. I've tried locally here in Phoenix, but no takers and I don't want it to sit in my garage waiting for a time that'll never come.
+John Johnson Oh, I thought you wanted to restore it. I normally don't buy radios as I have hundreds, but if the price is right..... Can you send pics and give me a price?
+John Johnson Just don't have the time, I drive for a living and barely home. I found this unit looking for ornaments at a Christian Thrift shop while searching for Christmas ornaments for her hobby. I knew it was special and was hoping someone might give it a good home or re-purpose it for donor parts. Please advise, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, John.
