yeah, i was born in 81. I remember I didn't like Nirvana that much because my dad actually liked it. Other good music from 90s was was Wu Tang Clan. The whole alternative music fad was kind of lame. Pearl Jam was interesting when they first came out early 90s, then there were tons of bands that looked/sounded like them. Nirvana seemed like they shouldn't be in mainstream, which was interesting.
+Brett Sanders o shit didn't realize haha, you could probably be him in a cover band honestly. pretty crazy time for music. cobain and then tupac. I was born in 97 so I just missed nirvana
I am the guy in the vid. I was a teenager when Kurt killed himself. I wasn't that big of a Nirvana fan at that time actually, but later got more into them. Greenday was more popular for teenagers at the time, Nirvana was for people a bit older although some other 12-14 year olds I knew were into them
+Brett Sanders yeah stripe and a little bit of his face. was born in the 90s didn't really grow up through the whole thing. think.my brother did the nirvana also haha. Was the thing to do
+Nicholas Green Prob the striped shirt. I was teenager in the 90s, so I did like Nirvana, but also was a skater and style came from that. Greenday was actually a huge influence on style of that period, prob more than Nirvana ... this was when Greenday bleached their hair or dyed difference colors and wore khaki pants (almost 10 years before american idiot)
Dear Brett,
Great job on the lesson! Thank You and appreciate the way you describe and
break down the songs. It really helps to get the message across. I really
like your Nirvana lessons and have gone through a number of them. I agree
that singing to some of their songs is difficult, although Dumb doesn't
seem too bad. Ones that I find really hard are singing to Come As You Are,
and Smells Like Teen Spirit. God bless You and cousin Kurt. I have really
gotten a greater appreciation for their music since I started playing the
guitar 3+ years ago. Wish I started sooner (57 now). If I could play every
day I would - It would help to stop working.
+GR Zercoe Thanks for the kind words. That's awesome you're learning guitar. I remember when I first started learning, music sounded different because my brain was focusing on the guitar parts instead of the music as a whole. I played drums a couple years and had same experience, but with brain focusing on the drums. Definitely gives appreciation more you learn. I still can't sing Nirvana songs well, but doesn't mean can't sing them poorly:)
+Brett Sanders hes talking about that little riff you have going on during the chorus. sounds great, but i dont think they actually played thaht on guitar, wasnt that the cello part?dont get me wrong, i love the way you play it, im gonna do that little riff thing from now on, but i think thats why that guy said you make things harder. cause that riff isnt on in utero for sure, and id have to hear unplugged but i dont think that was anything but cello doing that ... anyway sounds cool added in.
